Great ball game. Highlands went for two from the 1.5 yd line in OT, after an offsides penalty on the extra point and came up short.

Sounds like a fun game.

I like the call by the coach.

So we have HHS that beat SK, that beat Cov Cath, that beat HHS. Interesting!

Great game by both teams.

Cov Cath came down and scored on first possession. Mayer to Raisbeck cutting across the middle of the end zone.

Highlands right came back and scored twice thereafter to make it 14-7 Highlands at the half.

Cov Cath forces Highlands to punt on their first possession of the 2nd half, then drives down and scores on a DeFraites run off the edge from about 10 yards out to tie it up.

In OT, on 4th and goal from about the 7, Mayer throws a nice out pattern to Beagle who looked like he was going to go down at @ the 3 but somehow fought his way over the goal line.

On the ensuing Highlands drive, forced into a 4th goal of their own, the QB scrambles and finds his WR in the front corner to make it 20-21. Highlands lined up for a PAT but Cov Cath encroaches. Highlands decides to line up from 1-1/2 yards out and power it in. DeFraites screams in from the edge to take the RB down.

Lots of ebbs and flows from both sides. Cov Cath actually should have won it with about a minute to go when Mayer caught Paul Thelen streaking down the sideline- but the refs called a penalty (two men in motion maybe?).

Cov Cath now 4-1 with the only loss thus far to SK on a wild 6-0 game.

Good luck to both teams going forward. Futures look bright.

Two consecutive weeks CCH has had a late go ahead TD called back due to penalty. This team could be 5-0 as easily as they could be 2-3 - ah the vagaries of Freshman. Who was it that said "the best thing about freshman is they become sophomores..."? Nevertheless, good game young Colonels.

Well crap! HHS on the way back down now! Sounds like a great game and good experience for both squads!

Sounds like a great game. Why didn't Highlands try a game winning field goal at the end of regulation from chip shot range?

I do like going for the win in OT.

Wouldn't have been a chip shot at all really. Ball was on @ the 15 Would have been a 32 harder from the left hash.

HHS did get the kick off when the encroachment call was made. The ball was low and hit the crossbar.

Is there a frosh playoffs? How does it work if there is?

Actually if Highlands would of lined up in the FG formation and attempted the try they wouldn't have had the penalty called for movement. JMO! Ball would of been from the 9 and the ball placement after the P.I. should of been placed in the middle of the field. Correct? I may be wrong where the ball should of been placed. The attempt would of been a whole 6 yards longer than a normal P.A.T. Very makable.....And the way the Goal post:rolleyes: was leaning to the left it would of benefited the kicker. My point is, the worse thing that could of happened was that it goes to overtime.

That was the OT kick that you are referring to. His comment was regulation. Highlands was throwing from the 14--15 yard line on 4th down at the end of regulation. Still think Highlands isn't called for the penalty at the 9 if they line up in the FG formation and make an attempt. Heck with another T.O. left, HHS could of tried to draw CCH offsides on the FG attempt and moved it 5 yards closer. I'm thinking CCH is bringing the house to block it. Im pretty sure HHS had another TO left didn't they? If HHS jumps then we are back to the 14 and HHS is throwing to the end zone exactly how it played out anyway. Attempt the FG!!!!

Also when you know that CCH is going to put 11 in the box because you are going to run it right down their throats you need to adjust and play action that play to a Wide open TE standing by himself. That's money! I have seen it in a coaching situation hundreds of times. Anybody that knows me knows that we are throwing a pass to our TE for the win. The only way we don't convert is the TE drops the ball.

Yes exactly....Maybe! But the flag was thrown almost exactly the same time as the snap. I was standing pretty close nearby and commented that the play was coming back before he even threw the ball. Wasn't sure what the penalty was but it wasn't dropped late.
