  1. Great addition for Belfry. I know that JC contacted NCC 3 times for the same open date, but no response. Truly a tough competition early on and will get both teams ready for the remainder of the season and in to the playoffs. Got to love Belfry and their quality of opponents annually. Hats off to Haywood and the Pirates for this schedule.
  2. Very sad to hear the news of this young mans passing. May God place his ever loving hands upon his family, friends, and the entire Belfry community. May you find comfort and peace during this most difficult time. Prayers sent.
  3. Johnson Central @ Belfry Johnson Central @ Lexington Catholic
  4. I wouldn't call 19-7 being handled. JC gained almost 100 more yards of offense than CC in the game and only gave up 12 points defensively. The turning point in the game was the blocked FG attempt that was returned for a TD. After that, an INT after the starting QB for Central went down to set up short field and the last TD late in the 4th. You can call it however you want, but the people from Highlands have even stated that this was the best Cov Cath team they have faced since the 2006 State Champion team. As for the Belfry comment in another post, Belfry's whole offense played that game and the JC defense held them scoreless and Hatfield to 10 yards for the game. The same Hatfield that ran for 230+ on Louisville Central. You can't win a game if you can't score. To talk about SW being the favorite moving up a class when they couldn't make it to BG as a 4A team playing in 3A is a little crazy, but it's a fair statement from a fan.
  5. From my experiences, they will clear the Coaches Club seats and area after each game. However, they will not clear out the general admission side.
  6. I will be there all weekend. I look forward to the finals every year. I know many people were upset with the move to BG but I tend to like it and the smaller atmosphere. Just don't think it could be replicated at Papa John's or even CW Stadium
  7. JC IS the better team and proved that the past couple of years and with this years shutout of the Pirates. But overall success the past 10 years no one can argue with Belfry. I think a lot of it is contributed to the watered down 3A East. It has almost been a straight shot for them with the exception of a few years. Next year, with the addition of a few teams in the East and Lex Cath and Boyle dropping to 3A, if they continue the success then there will be no need for the discussion regardless if JC wins a title or two.
  8. I highly doubt it. Ironton had a transfer last season from South Point named D'angelo Palladino who is a stud and being recruited by several Big 10 schools. That was probably the biggest reason Long transferred. Can't see him going back to them and continue to play second fiddle to the guy that took his carries to begin with.
  9. Undercoached? JC has to make the best out of the players within their school like everyone else does. Heck, they only had 7 seniors on the team! This is a very young JC team from all accounts, and I'm not trying to make an excuse for them because from the sounds of it they could have won the game, but they should not be on the same level as a team with well over 100 players in their program like a Cov Cath or Highlands. Too much depth and the ability to platoon is crucial at this level. However, I saw from another site that defensively they allowed 12pts tonight and started 6 sophomores and a freshman. I don't think coaching is the issue, to have a team play a team as well as they did should be a testament to it. They didn't get the breaks and the Colonels made plays when it mattered the most.
  10. As several have stated, without a doubt, my favorite moment was braving the cold and getting to watch the 2002 state championship with Trinity and Male.
  11. Raceland puts this one away early and then begins the prep for Pikeville. Should be a good game between two outstanding football programs next week.
  12. Same story, different verse. Belfry rolls to the state-semi's and will square off against a pretty good Garrad Co. bunch.
  13. They all can't have the plush meadows of Raceland and Ashland area schools. Just kidding, but they have had this turf for some time and from what I can tell they have soccer lines on the field as well. That will take a toll after time.
  14. No. The QB actually went down during this game and there were several others on the list that played, some more limited than others. Coming in to their game with JC, on another site, Belfry faithful stated that their offense was intact and their defense was weakened.
  15. In looking at the stats and the rosters compared to last year and this year, it wouldn't surprise me. The JC team lost 8 players from last years starting offense (whole backfield) and 4 players from a very young defense.
  16. I'm curious, when did that happen? If it did, very shameful. I know that most schools used to trade film, whether VHS or DVD, on Saturday's. Now, almost all schools in the state of KY use HUDL to trade and there is no way that it can be blank. Just curious, coming from an old football guy.
  17. Nice season Tigers, but Pikeville rolls. Coach Mac and the Panthers will be in Bowling Green in a few weeks.
  18. I believe we are all well aware of the injury situation for the Pirates. No one is doubting their health and it was made apparent all week by some BHS followers. However, by still talking about it and giving numbers, it appears as if you are trying to discredit what exactly happened. With their "hogs" still intact on the front line offensively, there was nothing Belfry could get going. The difference was the battle of the line and you all got whipped all night long. I believe through the 3rd quarter the total offense for the Pirates was 53yds. I didn't hear a final stat total, but they had a could of runs when JC subbed in the 4th. I saw it, you saw it, and the whole WYMT area saw it on tv. I'm glad that you guys will be healthy come playoff time, and I hope you bring another title back to the Mts. Sometimes you have to give credit where it's due though.
  19. You're right, I would say part of the end of the game was maybe getting the kicker another FG attempt at game speed. It's a little different look in a game as opposed to practice. Good snap, good hold, and the kick. As for nothing else working, the overall series is 3-3 so something has worked, but not the past two meetings.
  20. Tyler Pack - Johnson Central. There was an article about him last year in the Lexington Herald. He is also currently ranked #1 in the class of 2016 at the K position.
  21. High school workhorse Jude blossoming into college star at EKU | College Football | Kentucky.com Jude was a tremendous athlete at the high school ranks. I actually got to watch the Cov Cath game in question. Against the Colonels in 2010, his first carry was for a loss of two. The Cov Cath student section began chanting, "Overrated!" Then 430+ yards later they weren't. Although he was a great running back, I feel that he was an even better wrestler. I live in the Richmond area and have had the chance to watch him play a few times at EKU. Going in to this season he was #1 on the depth chart before the Mobley transfer.
  22. Big win for Russell. It's always tough to go Ashland and leave with a W, congratulations!
