  1. Defending State Champion West Jessamine (31-8) will play Region 4 Champion Bowling Green (31-9) in the night cap of opening round of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament on Thursday. Thoughts? Predictions?
  2. Champions of Region 16, Greenup Co. (39-1) will play Region 7 Champion St. Xavier (25-12) on Thursday in the opening round of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament @ 6:00p.m. Arguably one of the most intriguing first round match-ups. Thoughts? Predictions?
  3. Region 1 winner McCracken Co. (35-5) will play Region 5 winner Elizabethtown (28-12) on Thursday in the opening round of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament @ 1:30. Thoughts? Predictions?
  4. 15th Region Champion Johnson Central (32-9) battles it out with 9th Region Champion Highlands (23-17) in the opening round of the Rawlings/KHSAA State Tournament on Thursday @ 11:00a.m. Thoughts? Predictions?
  5. Also until the KHSAA quits letting them get away with not making out-of-district athletes pay tuition while others still have to foot the bill plays into their cards. If one benefit is provided to a select few and not all isn't that considered impermissible? It has been proven that if you threaten legal action against Julian and the other puppets at the KHSAA they will let you get away with anything. (See the Tigers late 2014 acquisition of a RB) Last time I checked they have legal counsel on staff so why not call their hand.
  6. 57th District @ Magoffin Co Monday, May 23 6:00 Johnson Central vs Paintsville 8:00 Sheldon Clark vs Magoffin Wednesday, May 25 6:00 Championship
  7. Confirmed? Although the record may not indicate it, he has done a tremendous job changing the culture of GC football.
  8. Pike County student claims high school coach hit him in the face Wow! I hope this is not true.
  9. You see it happening more often than not. I have family in Johnson County and was disappointed to see when Paintsville decided to quit playing Johnson Central for the Apple Bowl. I would go annually to the festival to see family and we would go to the game.
  10. Agree. There is too much stock placed on the official "star rating" system for the recruiting process. A lot of good players fly under the radar because they don't attend combines, especially the ones that play multiple sports. Which, in essence, is driving the specialization of athletes even earlier.
  11. I spoke with a close friend that lives in Paintsville. From what I was told, Kash did in fact have a MRI on his knee. Initial report was a potential ACL injury. Truly hope this is not the case, he is a tremendous player with a bright future ahead of himself at UK.
  12. Actually, it was 21-0 at the half. Went back and looked at a previous update thread.
  13. Not saying they don't have a chance, but if you were doing a preseason ranking you have to look at what happened in the previous year and what each has returning. Football is a funny game and left to be played on the field. Stranger things have happened. Baker is solid, as is O'Bryan, but the battle in the trenches would favor JC and that has been the difference the past two times.
  14. No idea how one would have Ashland above JC, considering they have 18 of 22 starters back from a team that has beat Ashland a combined 84-14 the past two seasons.
  15. I was curious about JC myself, but spoke to an old friend that went. Only 8 were football players of the 14 JC took, and as one mentioned, some only competed in specific lifts and not all 3. The majority of the team is still wrestling, due to state being pushed back till next week, or were at baseball practice.
  16. I was assuming that the positions being listed as QB/K that he was going as a QB. A true honor to be selected among the elite K's in the country. Best of luck to the young man.
  17. Looking at the 15th region, Belfry has definitely benefitted from a 3 team district (Belfry, Pike Cent, Phelps).
  18. That's great, but the NFL Combine wrapped up yesterday in Indianapolis. Are you sure it's not a pro day? Either way an invite to participate is a huge accomplishment.
  19. I watched this and can say, I'm very impressed. I looked him up on a search engine and came across his performance at the Northeast Super Combine in Canton. From the appearance, he performed very well.
  20. Their schedule is complete. 2015 Highlands Football Augusts 14 ST X (Cin) (Scrimmage) Home August 21 Cooper Away August 28 Campbell County Home Sept. 4th Scott County Away Sept. 11th Ryle Home Sept. 18th ST X (Lou) Home Sept. 25th Simon Kenton Away Oct. 2nd Bye Oct. 9th Dixie (Homecoming) Oct. 17th CovCath Away Oct. 23rd Grant County (Senior Night) Home Oct. 30 Boone County Away
  21. Is their schedule still complete? As of yesterday there were rumors beginning to circulate about Harlan County dropping them in week 2, any validity to those claims?
  22. Not saying that it didn't, but from what I could gather it was an assistant coach and not Matney that made the efforts. Regardless, Belfry will continue to be in the thick of things come playoff time due to their quality opponents during the regular season.
