Best game of the 2nd round?

I don’t foresee it happening, but in reality anything could happen..... but I seriously doubt it.

I think Henry Clay is a tougher team to beat than many give them credit for. These kids have weathered a tough season & a head coach & staff who knows how to build a game plan to keep his team competitive against nearly anyone (look at how they played Frederick Douglass really tough last week)

This is why I hate school districts that have this what’s good for the goose is good for the gander attitude. I’ve battled this before when I was an AD trying to get something done & it would be shot down due to the other schools in the district not receiving the same thing. I can take some parity, but each place needs to be able to form something unique & if someone is willing to throw that bone to a school district, they are idiots for not accepting.

The 1999 final between St. X & Bryan Station is up there in these ranks as well.

The punt that hit their own player in the back was quite possibly one of the worst plays I've ever seen occur in a game. It was something that shoulda been in the movie Necessary Roughness.

from what I know it's too much on the outfields to take multiple teams practicing daily on them. Maybe if they turfed the outfields it would be viable.

Fayette County doesn't have middle school soccer. The issue with many of the schools is that when they were built, there was no extra space for practice fields so football/ boys soccer & girls soccer all compete for field time with two of these teams often splitting the field up 50 yards each right after school with the odd man out team practicing late. The people I've talked to in the know about the situation say that they could practice off campus, but transportation would be an issue & many times there isn't anything available close enough to make it feasible.

It sure will be interesting to see how this plays out because from the thread it seems like the suspension & the ineligible player are unrelated. Hopefully someone will be able to post from the game tonight with an update on the coaches status.

Is anyone going to the Douglass/Station game tomorrow that will be able to verify if the head coach is on the sideline or not tomorrow? @plantmanky, how would/did FCSD mess it up, I don't think I understand ?

When I took over as AD at the school I was at, we didn't have a specific provider, each coach of their respective team went out on their own to solicit the best deal of the brand of uniform they wanted to use. Over the course of time while I was there, I was approached by an Adidas rep who I allowed them to present to my coaches during a meeting their proposal. Although we were not bound by a contract to be an "Adidas school", several of our bigger sports football, boys & girls basketball,b&g soccer, baseball & softball, etc.....All took the opportunity to utilize the deal & receive the discounts & the free gear they were offering to sign on with them for a 3 year team deal. In the end I think that overall the teams were happy with what they received, but I can see how its not a perfect deal for every program.

This was Dunbars homecoming too. I bet before the season they were thinking this was a winnable game since it was a new school. I would say that the city championship is going to happen, they have Station & Henry Clay left & both are at home.

The charter school issue is for sure a weird one. I haven't kept up with it like I need to, but I did see an attachment to the bill that stated if the Charter School didn't have athletic facilities for them to field a team, then those students would then be eligible to play for their school they would have attended where they live. It then in my opinion opens up the home school students playing on teams can of worms as well.

Baseball is the same, but it isn't a "sacred cow" & they aren't looking to change that into classes anytime soon, although it doesn't create the revenue that basketball does.

There is no way I would ever do that. Thats the equivalent of driving from Pikeville to Lexington everyday and back. :isurrender:

The Herald Leader says that they didn't lose anyone due to the redistricting that occurred, but if you live close to the area you hear more than they will actually say in the news. They did lose their starting quarterback and starting running back to Douglass, so IMO, yes they lost some enrollment, just not through the actual redistricting, but kids leaving on their own. :wideyed:

3A McCreary Central hosts 6A Paul Laurence Dunbar this Saturday Spet 16th. McCreary looks to be able to put some points on the board scoring 58 in a loss to Perry Co. Central in 4 overtimes & 60 in a win vs. Fort Knox. Dunbar has yet to score this year through 3 games. Who wins?

The only team in the state not to score as of now. Berea & Holmes both scored 6 points this past week.

It might be one of the biggest, but it doesn't get the amount of football players that many in this group would think it would. There are a lot of students there that are interested in other sports outside of football, one being Lacrosse has taken a lot of "football" playing kids and they have decided to focus on club lacrosse only. They had a coach that had righted the ship in many ways with Paul Rains, he had changed the entire culture over there, but he stepped down and has now left the school. They have large baseball, soccer, swim & track teams there & the majority of those student-athletes are focused on only one sport, but the numbers for football have been pretty thin since the David Hensley days which ended in 2007.

Definitely don't want to confuse them with the Pirates of Berea. :no:

This wont have much of an impact unless they start beating some bigger name teams of the 10th Region IMO. When they start to win, thats when this will be news. (If they can do that)

I say a few more sports historically too, but you are not far off in your hypothesis.

pardon me, but did you say THREE yards of offense for Dunbar? The entire game?

I can say I was shocked at the outcome, totally blew the prediction on this one.

$6 for adults & $4 for students in Fayette County at the public schools. Can't answer for LexCath or LCA, haven't been to a game at either place in years now.
