@3/2 zone, thats counter productive from a financial standpoint from the way I see it. In the district that I worked in, retirement benefits have to be factored into all supplemental paid positions for coaches. So if someone isn't employed by the system in either a certified or classified position, the non-employee benefit is roughly 20% extra on top of the supplemental pay total that they are to receive for the district to pay benefits on that coach, so its better to hire within the building, or within the school district itself rather than a non-employee.

No, but it helps. Makes it so much easier in hiring, communication, organization, discipline, etc............

I wonder if Coach Brown ever has thoughts of going back home to Bourbon Co.? Maybe not now since his son still has a couple years left at his current school, but after that.

Looks amazing. Only thing I think that I would do is increase the visitors side bleachers just in case, but its not my $$$ they are spending.

When I was an AD we would have our spring meeting for the Region & would have open discussion & vote on where we were going to host Regional Basketball. We would then submit where we were hosting the Region to the KHSAA & that was it. Commissioner Tackett was never at these meetings & didn't have any input on where we were looking to host. We always were looking at venues that could handle the spectator capacity, offered enough parking & were available during the timeframe we needed.

Knights Inn is definitely OUT. They found someone deceased there with 2 others in the room that were going about their business like nothing was wrong. :wideyed: Embassy Suites out near the interstate on Newtown Pike is going to be $200 a night unless you do some type of online reservation with some 3rd party company. I just checked their website & it said no rooms available. Griffin Gate Marriott right across the road on Newtown is up around $300 a night for this weekend.

2011 may feel like forever ago in terms of high school sports, but that year Tates Creek was ranked #1st in the state during part of the season with Breeden as coach. Lost in the 2nd round of Region to Madison Central by 1 point. Finished with a 24-5 record.

I would say EKU, Frankfort, or how about Johnson Arena at Morehead State? I would say Memorial too, but too many people have a love/hate relationship with UK "hosting" things imo. If you throw Morehead into the mix, it would get that area in the mix of hosting a state level championship and is just an hour from Lexington. If you havent been to Morehead in a while it has really changed since I went to college there in the mid-90's. Pasquales on Main Street is still the place to go for their Stromboli too. :up:

Really not surprised by the outcome. Difference I see is that Taylor County played a schedule that would prepare them for adversity & Adair Co. didn't. Taylor played some serious teams this year (and took their lumps) and I just didn't see that kind of challenge from the schedule Adair played. Congrats to Taylor Co!

Its really according to how quickly they get these schools up and running. The first issue is facilities. Where are they gonna house the schools & if they are offering athletics, where will they practice/play. Also in the initial bill in Kentucky they were talking about just a few charter schools in Louisville & Lexington & then go from there. Not sure if that has grown outside of those boundaries or if they have taken the cap off of the max number of schools, but say for example if they were to put 3 in Lexington, I honestly don't know where they would put them, heck, I couldn't tell you where they could put 1 school in an existing building right now unless there is some defunct elementary school building sitting idle right now with a cafeteria/gym setup like most of the old school buildings used to be.

My experiences with Charter schools as an AD were disastrous at best. They would open, close & dissolve in what would seem no time. When they would close, all of the paperwork would seemingly disappear. In my time as an AD we received somewhere between 5-10 charter school transfers and of those I remember, only 1 I was able to complete the proper paperwork with the sending AD to get the student-athlete eligible, the rest had to sit for a calendar year from enrollment due to not being able to get anything filled out on the sending end. Even the parents couldn't get help from the Charter schools to get their kids info to the receiving school. I am just waiting for the storm to hit & see where it takes us here in the state of Kentucky. I've only spoken to friends I have who are public school teachers in areas with Charter schools & they just shake their head & laugh.

10 points from LexCath @ halftime is pretty brutal, not that Scott Co. having 25 by the half was setting the world on fire by any means. I think everyone expected a much better game by these two teams.
