GRC is in the process of building their new school. They are the 22nd largest school in the state, biggest in the region with 1,586 kids. Today on Twitter I saw where they tweeted out this:

Word on gym capacity is 4,500+

Thrilled for our kids, and our community. I can deal with the blasting and lots of dust as I can see the school from my front porch. It is going to be a sports complex with all sports will now be at the new high school, I have been told.

Does that mean that at some point in time the 40th will alternate between Mt. Sterling and Winchester to host the regional tournament every four years? And would the 38th ever consider either venue?

Wow. Another big gym in the region. Mason County might as well take the wrecking ball to the Fieldhouse and build something a bit larger and modern.

Looking at the plans, it looks very similar to Montgomery County, although Montgomery only has endzone seating on one end, right?

While it says that. It is only there to keep the Policy Board from trying to host at a gym with 74 ft floors for an example. Secondly, everyone throws out that Julian Tackett makes the call when in all actuality if he personally made the call on everything, what would be the use of hiring as many employees as they do. The policy board 99.9 times out of 100 makes the call on where they will host their regional tournaments and then send it in writing to the KHSAA office where it is almost always approved.

We are way over due for this. I am really excited. But I. am sure there will be haters, there always is.

As a Clark County sports fan I am so excited about the plans for the new sports complex. I think they have a spectacular layout for a top flight sports complex.
