Word on gym capacity is 4,500+

Isn't the school already built and open? This is the addition of a new gym?

When I was an AD we would have our spring meeting for the Region & would have open discussion & vote on where we were going to host Regional Basketball. We would then submit where we were hosting the Region to the KHSAA & that was it.

 

Commissioner Tackett was never at these meetings & didn't have any input on where we were looking to host. We always were looking at venues that could handle the spectator capacity, offered enough parking & were available during the timeframe we needed.

Schools interested in hosting a region tournament shall submit their request through a meeting of the Principals or Designated Representatives of all schools in the region and shall supply information relating to the listed criteria for hosting. A whole new sports complex. The school was built in phases. This is the final phase.

Does this complex include a new, much needed baseball field? Went to Regional bb tournament a couple years ago, took me 45 minutes including three stops asking for directions after hitting city limits. Got to tour new school, softball facilities, and old high school on my search. New campus is pretty impressive!

No he does not, the schools in each region decide where the region will be held.

No matter who builds what, the tradition that the Fieldhouse possesses can't be built or constructed.

I agree Opie ... Loved playing there , didn't care if there were 4000 people or 4 in the stands ... something about that floor man !!!

It definitely looks like a nice building and nice sports complex.

 

It appears that once completed every 8 years the region will be there. That's great for GRC. They have every right to host if they can accommodate the crowds and such. Personally I will not attend for the same reason I don't go when it's at MoCo. The drive from my house is too long for me on a week/work night.

 

TBH I'd absolutely love to see the region format like it was a couple years ago. When the entire 1st round is played on Saturday and semis and finals was on Mon-Tues. if that were the case I'd attend when the 40th hosted. But that's just me.

To my knowledge it is a complete complex that will cover all sports. For reason you stated above this is LONG over due. Yes, it is going to be very impressive.
