Jim Schue
Fourth time was a charm for the Cardinals against the Indians. Wish I could have seen it. Clearly the tourney grit the remaining Taylor players learned from the past 2 years came into play. I know it did against Bardstown and LaRue. Jim Schue
I thought Adair might have some trouble when they went up against some actual defense, and had to actually play some defense in a tight tourney situation.
Biscuiteater
Unbelievable effort from Taylor County. Adair was clearly the best team in the region all year. I don't think anyone could have predicted this, especially with the Gaines injury and McQueary playing with one arm. I think it's the most improbable 5th Region champ in my lifetime. dognation2
These aren't sour grapes but I thought they might have trouble with Taylor. Against JH Pearson, Guillory and Witherspoon all were plagued with foul trouble....refs were way too involved....there were almost 70 free throws shot in that game. Oliver is playoff seasoned and Maze is a good coach

Could fairly be argued that Taylor Co. had the "nobody believes in us" market covered, since most expected Bardstown to beat them, and possibly by a bunch. Then the anger over the rest of the district voting to draw instead of seed, and subsequently force TC to have to hunt down a bunch of extra games to fill out their schedule. And the alleged KHSAA microscope that is on the program can't be discounted either. I can see how those guys would be motivated to three-peat under those circumstances. Wireman
What was the late technical foul for?

Jim Schue
Maze is great at the us against the world mentality too Oh yes he is. He definitely read from the Tom Coughlin, John Thompson and Jerry Tarkanian playbook in a big way. I've been told he was none too happy about the result of the draw/seeding vote at the district meeting.

5thIndian
Taylor Co played the toughest schedule in the region this year, and I think it paid off. Adair Co had a much weaker schedule. I think both coaches inherited their schedule. North Hardin always plays a tough schedule also and was on a heck of a run before the wheels came off with players being suspended. Why were they playing in the Campbellsville tourney? They should have been playing at LexCath. Their regular-season schedule outside of district was not good either. No reason for them to be playing Metcalfe, Thomas Nelson, Caverna 2x (3 if you include region), Hart Co., Cumberland Co. Nothing to be gained from these games, except learning how to play Chino Hills ball. It's not like they didn't know they were going to have a good team. Same thing that bit them in FB did so in hoops. Is that school just in love with gaudy win totals with nothing to show for it?

PurplePride92
Hell of a win by Taylor County and Maze Stallworth once again proves how good of a coach he is. Having done 5th Region reports part time for BGP this season I didn't expect Taylor County to be the one winning this region. Congrats to the Cardinals and good luck next week against Ballard.
