  1. Consistency is all good and well but let's face facts, nky didn't have reliable clock operators or clocks at many fields until recently. Plus it has to work (including the horn). I seem to recall a thread where people were complaining last year about clocks. Don't remember which one though.
  2. Ah, I missed your sarcasm entirely. Not enough time to read between the lines at work. I agree with you entirely.
  3. I'm struggling to find anything in your post that is true and for sure the last piece of eliminating added time is entirely erroneous. In response to jumper dad, I would guess they use the beep function on their watch. Most digital watches have that.
  4. Without a horn this is fruitless, you can't both watch the line and the clock. And I sure as hell wouldn't want the referee standing with their back to play in the box just to observe the scoreboard. If everything works I have no problem with the stadium clock. Otherwise it should be just as it always has been, to simply give you an idea of the time.
  5. Time change makes my brain go dumb.
  6. I'm sure they await a system that works over the blond draw as much as all of you. As someone said if you were to switch to a coaches poll then you open the system up to bias and frankly name recognition because many of the coaches won't know some of the teams from a hole in the ground. The draw allows for the underdog to make it farther in some aspects, which is sort of the fun to high school sports. Anyone remember when the state final was a repeat of the all A final a few years back? I bet that wasn't predicted by anyone.
  7. I didn't take it that way anyway. I was just curious after I thought about it. Not sure where the Khsaa makes money.
  8. Can you blame them? Although it does beg the question of what other sources of revenue the Khsaa has. I would t think there are many.
  9. I've heard the new Carroll co field is nice. I have never had a good enough reason to travel that far for a game though.
  10. I agree as well and like I said it looked like they tried to do the proper thing last night and ran into a situation outside anyone's control. Nothing of it made any difference in a really good game, although I wish my umbrella had been bigger. Good luck to all in the further rounds
  11. So just hypothetically if the ref starts the watch right when the time starts how and why would he arbitrarily blow it 11 seconds after the 5 is up. I'm not saying you are wrong but were you timing as well? In my opinion you do either one or the other. Mixing and matching parts of them is asking for questions of how fast did the clock operator count? Was he dead on time with the clock and his count? Did the referee have to take .2 seconds to get the whistle to his mouth to end the half? Does the half end when 0 is announced or the whistle blown? Just seems silly. Do one or the other but not both. Always goes back to why high school has to have a special set of rule for a game that doesn't account for time the same as the other sports.
  12. But now you are meshing the two methods. When you use a statium clock the horn is the official end to time. So now the referee has to ask themselves the question how long do I wait after the operator says 1 to blow the whistle. Last night in the second OT if memory serves a CCH player put the ball in the net pretty close after the whilste was blown. I attributed this to the defender stopping due to the whilste, but I digress. If we are talking about seconds or milliseconds in some cases you need the horn to be official. It isn't like the nfl or nba where they can look at the tape after the fact. Without the horn the clock doesn't do any good. Next year is going to be a struggle to get the clock issue fixed I think. Need working scoreboards and someone whose sole job is the clock and nothing else.
  13. Based on what I saw last night Dixie has the parking but it is spread and wrapped around the school. Walking is good for you get over it.
  14. Looks like they tried last night. I agree it makes it takes some responsibility off the ref. Like I said if what I heard through the wind, rain and fans last night was accurate the ref tried to yell up to let the horn sound and they responded it was broken. Next year could be interesting.
  15. I couldn't be sure from where I was sitting OTB but I thought I heard the clock operator come down and say the horn was not working on the scoreboard. I wouldn't think it would make sense to use it as time of there isn't a buzzer to let the officials know when it just ran out. Just a guess though.
  16. First time NDA won a state title that happened
  17. St x every year for thirty years in swimming. Still impressive though.
  18. Do we really have someone complaining about having to walk far from their car to get in a game?
  19. Meets the minimum requirements. Saying they have to have a "good" facility is also pretty ambiguous. Lest we not forget too that there are areas of the state that don't have the money or facilities to hold up to that standard. Not everywhere is as blessed as nky with the abundance of turf
  20. Don't the officials in soccer cover like 4 different regions? I don't think that do just one like BB.
  21. Huh. Oh well. would that even be viable for soccer and the lack of officials though.
  22. I think for either team to have a chance they have to score more goals than the other team. -John Madden lol
  23. Pretty sure this is false. 9th region bb refs do the 9th region tourney for example
