I would agree that the 5:00 start would no doubt limit the referee pool. Not saying there aren't people who can make it but the numbers are probably small. I also think some schools have bus restrictions so that might have been a factor. This isn't the first time I think a post season game has had to delay for light.

Agreed though SK would be one where they need more in my opinion. That end of the field with the huge hill is annoying. Why hasn't a net been strung to stop that problem?

The point is that emotions are running high in this thread and while in this case the ref maybe could have done something (I don't know I wasn't there) making a blanket statement like you did is inflammatory and irresponsible.

Your opinion is wrong. Plenty of red cards are given when players lose their cool or can't realize they are in the wrong. Refs can let things get out of hand and results could be reds but that is most certainly not even close to always the case.

First things first. If it was the same kind of red he got earlier this year then let it go. That's a goal scoring opportunity card and has nothing to do with nasty play. As far as the coach, wasn't he an assistant last year? If that's the case I seem to recall him being rather... "Animated" at the final last year.

We are living in a different world now folks. When I played the JV team had a mandatory rotation for being ball runner. Now that would require someone to do more than their parents think they should. Hence no ball runners.

I think the term you are looking for is off the ball foul. As stated prior if the ball is not in play you can't award a PK.

Welcome to the BGP. Believe it or not there are people that think everyone should just say play anyone that is eligible by khsaa standards. That opinion never gets far though. In all honesty I have said it in the past either make and enforce eligibility rules or play the absolute strongest JV team possible. Period. The complaints are pretty bad but I'll just reference my previous posts on here about how I feel at this point after years of watching this debacle.

Town & Country probably would cost a chunk of change to move leagues and practices. That and you can't see at night due to half the lights being gone.

From what I saw in the game there was a lot of cheap off play antics and trash talk. At least twice the AR had to step in on players doing extracurricular activities while the ref was dealing with something else. Could this have been just these two teams, maybe. But I have been in years past to other games and it always seem like people are very high strung and not just from excitement.

And that is my point. I had the misfortune to attend the final last year and it was a sad affair of trash talking and bad attitude. The tournament fosters bad feelings as it is now. I agree we need to continue having it but some changes need to be made and enforced.

By all means let's follow the everyone gets a trophy mentality even though everyone wants an asterisks added to the record to show they may have brought down varsity players.

Here we go. Let's fight ideals so important we can't make rules to uphold them. I almost wish we would do away with this tournament. The atmosphere is nothing but bad feelings and mistrust during every game.
