You also have to think on relative terms as well. Does it really make that much difference comparing a 1 vs a 2A school when talking about their numbers compared to a 6A? They are still small. If you look state wide there have been a couple dark horse small schools shake up the soccer world I'm sure.

Humility for one. For the "weaker" school it is the benefit of playing a higher quality opponent. For the stronger it is the opportunity to relax after a more challenging game and possibly give non starters a shot to see what they can do in a less stress filled environment. As I said it isn't always quantifiable.

Soccer is a different beast when it comes to the classes. I mean the state final the year St Henry girls won was a rematch of the All A state final. While I get the general point I think it is beneficial for all to play any school you can in soccer, for various, sometimes unquantifiable, reasons.

Actually. If the keeper hadn't touched that the defender on the post would have probably stopped it by just standing there. Obviously the keeper has to try for it but I'm wondering if the HHS coaches knew that Cooper had a threat that could put the ball near the posts and they wanted to have a defender there and ready.

Just a point of emphasis that the minimum distance on a throw is 2 YARDS not feet.

to each his own. I guess I just don't see the point questioning it when we want them to spread the goals out anyway. Why not let the senior score their possible only goal. No big deal either way. Life moves on.

And Sir! hits the nail on the head. How can the refs be consistent when the game isn't? Not saying that's the only problem because there are some questionable judgement made by the whistle on the field but soccer is a bit different in the fact that the games swing very differently depending on how the teams want to play.

Well all I can say is hopefully you weren't one of the ones bashing Scott last year for treadway having like 6 goals in one game because then I'm not sure who you would want to take the PK.

Why is it belittling? When it is 8-0 what does it matter who scores on you? You give opportunities when they arise. Field players have a constant chance to score while a keeper does not. They might not have gotten another chance for him to have a goal without butting the game on the line.

Probably because the kid hasn't had many chances to score a goal as a keeper in his career. Why wouldn't you do it in an 8-0 game. Even if they miss and get counter attacked who cares if you get scored on.

Saturday Soccerrama Predictions
The field wasn't great but I wouldn't go so far to say it was unsafe, or any more unsafe than most grass fields in the area. Looked like the people that were really in danger were the refs running the lines having to dodge the sewer grates. That was funny to watch.

Calm yourself Jack. I was saying "really" to the fact that you questioned if someone had complained. Which was laughable because the idea of changing coaches came up by like the third post. But for goodness sake. If you feel that strongly why are you taking your gripe to the Internet. Do you really think anything will change based on some anonymous complaining don't on bluegrass preps. Please...

So who won the pool about how quickly someone would complain about the HHS girls coach? Was it OTB?

Girls Soccerama Teams and Times
Worst decision ever, really had the kids in mind on that one. All the tax money in Boone county and they cant get the HS fields turf. Maybe they should ask the Bengals for some help, they have grants for fields. I always loved this more for the fact that it was like a year later another Boone county school that will go un named got turf.

Are Soccer Lines Needed On Turf Fields?
Another field with painted end zones. Ugh. So annoying.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck it's probably a goose... I don't think anyone is saying there isn't more to the story of soccer at Beechwood but for anyone to deny that the people there were not in favor of a soccer team or that they wouldn't be upset to see the program collapse for any reason is kidding themselves.

Does Beechwood hold track competitions now. I actually don't know but I had heard the don't.

Again. For the sake of the Boys and Girls, put soccer lines on the football field when it is redone. That is the only fair solution. Ignoring it entirely is pointless. No one is asking for an exception to the 3 year "agreement" but to not plan for the future is foolish. Most schools tend to make more money renting their turf to local youth soccer teams in the summer than they do renting to youth football I would think. Again this is for boys and girls, I'm pretty sure their were complaints of no field from the girls teams as well so don't think this is an issue just because they have a boys team now.

Noticed it. Plenty being said about that in another topic mostly about how the greedy soccer program is going to hurt the poor mistreated football teams at Beechwood.

I really don't see where you keep getting this attitude that boys soccer wants more than any other sport. Everything I have read and I believe suggested so far seems to indicate they should be treated equally. That is to say, be given field time, or well a field when the turf is redone. Not sure how that is a screw you message to the other students. Seems more like to me that you are saying because you already have "200+" students you shouldn't have to attempt to make room for any others. The fact that there are people not even associated with Beechwood currently that know there has been shady dealings with regard to the formation of a soccer in the past ought to tell you something. Something was rotten on the state of Denmark.

Ok. First off I have been to Beechwood, I know what the facilities are, even played on them in other sports. I realize you don't have the space for expansion that some schools do. Here is the real question, would the soccer program have been aloud to exist without agreeing to no home games for three years. I agree that they signed the deal but under what conditions. Also, no one is saying Beechwood should tear up their whole facility for soccer, only that when the turf is redone that it should be made multisport and include soccer. Now if the field was already redone within the last 4 years and they didn't do this, they blatantly ignored that they did have a girls soccer program. So if they build a purely football field then what? "Well we know you agreed to not have home games for three years but we didn't put soccer lines on the field so your no homes games deal has been extended to 10 years because that is when we will be redoing the turf again" As far as parents "forging" names for the soccer team, I would think a lot of parents sign there kids up for stuff. Kids are lazy and a lot of them expect their parents to do that sort of thing for them. Not saying that happened here but come on its not like they wrote down the names of dead voters, this isn't a presidential election.

Fair enough. I wasn't really attacking the post per se but the concept that the question would really even be entertained in the real world.

I'm still not buying the argument for facilities issues and space. Does brossart have any facilities on site? How do they manage to have almost every major sport then? Saying they only have 14 kids playing on their second year doesn't really prove anything either. How many kids do you think generally come out for a sport at a school that has never had the sport in its first few years? Not many I would hazard to say. As someone said, where there is a will there is a way.
