groinpull
Pretty choppy performance by CCH but also some very nice moments. Day, Litzler and Darpel all with good performances. Day with 2, Litzler, Lamb and Jacobs all with 1. Litzler with a couple assists as well. St. Henry had no answer for Bryce Day.
imsays
Ouch, is the 9th region really going to be that bad.
groinpull
I wouldn't say the 9th region is bad but it has been better. St. Henry had some chances but they lack a skilled difference maker and didn't finish. CCH was very poor at communication and a lot of mental errors....and I mean a lot. Oldtimebaseball84
Romes with the clean sheet First half Litzler goal with Day assist Day goal with Litzler assist Second half Day goal (2) on PK earned by Litzler Nick Jacobs goal on Litzler assist (corner) Lamb goal on nice break away (was told the official book gave Litzler the assist but Lamb had a couple of nice moves before the shot) St Henry had chances but failed to capitalize. CovCath pulled all but 3 starters with 15 left......(GK and both mid defenders) Good luck St Henry going forward......
w2848
I believe the score was similar for the first CCH v SHDHS game last year... Both teams just warming up for Regionals.
Sir!
Sounds like a fun one. I should have left the dishes in the sink and gone to the game. Great result for CCH... 5 goals and a clean sheet to boot. I'm sure St Henry will get better as they retool and get in synch. Other than the back-up keepers did everyone else for CCH get in the game? Who played up top and looked good for CCH?
Oldtimebaseball84
It was also nice to see both teams represented well by the student bodies. Full stands.
groinpull
Colonels will have to be much sharper vs Trinity on Saturday if they want to come away with a win in that one. A 5-0 win is nice but they have a lot room for improvement if they want to reach their potential. Defensively I thought they were very sloppy and didn't communicate at all and made some poor decisions and give-aways in bad spots that could have really hurt them. A lot of senseless fouls too. Offensively, they did some nice things but there is some "me first" play that hopefully the coaches get wrung out of they players soon. Dribbling when they should pass and shooting from poor angles instead of making the easy pass, etc. I thought Day and Litzler did a good job of being sharing the ball and working off of each other and it paid off in the scoring column. StXBomber88
I thought the JV and Varsity games were both very well played last night. CCH was definitely the better varsity team last night. Their front line speed was faster than our backline speed. They were also a little more aggressive in the battle for the ball. On both the JV and Varsity they appeared to win more than their fair share of 50-50 balls. We will get to where we need to be by the end of the year. I felt the first CCH player to receive a yellow was lucky not to get a red card. Grabbing someone by the shoulders and twisting/throwing them to the ground and only getting a yellow had the Cru faithful a little aggravated. But, if the ref only felt a yellow was warranted then that's what we have to live with. Again, CCH was definitely the better team last night. Oldtimebaseball84
GP I agree....but not just for Trinity ......I think a lot of this automatically occurs when they get Wessels back in the middle. Some may argue that it could take a little while to have him on the same page as everyone, but he has played with 4 or 5 of the players for the past 3 years and with Litzler and Day since he was 7. So not too worried there.

Two yellow cards for CCH and one could have been straight red but I think yellow was the correct call. Regardless, both incidents should not have happened and hurt the team in the end and that kind of play is embarrassing.

Oldtimebaseball84
I'm not sure who enters the play by play into iScore, but this one seems out of line: "2 0 - 0 Q1 31:39 #11 Bryce Day makes a poor shot. right footed but the shot misses." bothways
I think I have seen some refs trying to get it on the scoreboard in recent years but due to the fact most clock operators are presumably volunteers it seems to be more trouble than it is worth.
