Oh I can't wait to hear this.

Bishop Brossart 3 Campbell County 2
Yes but then you have to figure out how, if at all, to count the goals for stats as that hardly seems fair to count them as regular goals.

Coach for which team? If highlands and it was the head coach I will be highly surprised.

Strong words from someone admitting they weren't there.

Highlands 2 Bishop Brossart 1
If a scoreboard is available. Some schools don't have lights. They are given exceptions for certain things. ?

Newport Catholic 3 Beechwood 2
Nein nein nein! But in all seriousness I have no idea. Beechwood has been threatened with that paper tiger before about soccer and never failed to say no anyway.

Yeah too bad the boys supposedly can't play there for like the first three seasons or some nonsense. I think I read that on some other thread.

Ryle/Henry Clay updates
Is this game at Ryle? Thought this was part of some Lexington tourney.

Highlands 1 St Henry 0
He was younger but based on how he looked this clearly wasn't his first time out there or doing games of this caliber.

It wasn't that ref before we go down that road.

I don't recall the warning given, at least on this play. I do remember seeing the keeper trying to adjust each sock and shinguard like 3 times a piece... As well as taking some time to get up after collecting the ball. All whole here was about 2 or 3 min left.

It was an interesting call but after watching the play. Pretty sure it was justified. Didn't really see the highlands bench explode in surprise over it either. St Henry just didn't seem like they were able to build anything up from midfield. Highlands was looking a bit desperate at the end too, relying on kick ball to keep the attacks away. It worked though so I guess good for them.

Highlands v St. Henry moved to 5PM AT HIGHLANDS
Why was the time moved. Seems you run a risk with some people not being able to make it now.

Bluegrass Games
Referees cutting games or the tournament. There is a critical difference.

What made 2015 worse?

Handling explained
The first part of this question should never be a factor. A call even a small one impacts the game slightly, but if the violation occurred then call it. Don't get hung up on the "am I influencing the game" BS that coaches and players try to get in your head with.

Handling explained
As gently as I can ask this... Do you think this is going to change the arguments of even the people reading this board on what they believe to be good or bad calls? Don't get me wrong I like this and will take it to heart as I think it defends many calls I have seen people complain about in the past but unfortunately facts rarely influence the people who are arguing against them.

Bluegrass Games
But are they part of a Khsaa sponsored event to specifically evaluate officials statewide?
-
Bluegrass Games
I would think part of the reason that Khsaa allows the extra scrimmages for soccer is that they use this tournament as part of the state referee camp. I can't imagine without game evaluation that camp is that useful.

Official time will no longer be kept on the field?
But asking the ref to somehow watch the clock, fouls, and if the ball crossed the line milliseconds before that clock you were watching instead of the ball hits zero seems to make that problem worse doesn't it? See above. Are you asking have I sat in on a professional referees meeting at a game no, but it was a stupid question. I instead have the power of Google and can download a free copy of the FIFA laws and read Law 7 which confirms what I stated. Really? Are you comparing top level leagues to your standard everyday Saturday game. No kidding they add time for those leagues. As far as you stopping your clock during youth matches... get a new hobby. Goals arent one of the reasons to add time I'm FIFA matches. Interestingly subs are which isn't a time the clock is stopped in high school and ncaa. The other issue is that games shouldn't always have all of the time added back. Don't know about you but I don't think we need added time on a 5-0 blowout. Which is why FIFA leaves it up to refs. It's meant to give you an approximation of lost time back, not every second.

Official time will no longer be kept on the field?
No kidding. I still think the horn should be required. Don't want to add human error into the equation of you are going to go the route anyway

Official time will no longer be kept on the field?
But most of those other sports don't have a dead stop when time runs out either. Football the play keeps going, basketball the shot still counts. Neither is the case in soccer. Plus as I stated in earlier posts for any of it to work you must have a fully functional clock with horn.

Official time will no longer be kept on the field?
Clearly you don't know how time is kept in a FIFA match. No there is no time keeper. The decision on how much time to add is the responsibility of the center referee and no one else. They dictate to everyone how much is added not the other way. How is the stadium clock more accurate in any way? It still relies on the referee to correct it. While the stadium clock is official if working, the referee still is the one who determines what official time is and tells the clock operator to change the time accordingly. High school also doesn't have added time just a a point of emphasis, they stop and start the clock. FIFA has added time because the clock is always running. Lastly most youth games that I have ever reffed don't have added time because the people that schedule the games stack them so close together that you can't add time. For someone making some bold statements regarding how time is kept or should be kept you seem to have very little understanding of how things actually work.

Official time will no longer be kept on the field?
Both of these are nonsense arguments. By the clock a football game will be 1 hour, 4x15 min. Yet somehow if I want to watch an NFL football game I can guarantee I need to plan on at least two hours of time. Yet you say they are so exacting in their clock. Same with Bball. Don't get me started on baseball. With soccer at least I know my game is going to last within probably 10 min of an hour and a half, excluding half time. I would say soccer is much better about keeping their time than other sports. Contrary to popular belief you don't need to know down to the millisecond how much time is left in a game.
-
Official time will no longer be kept on the field?
I think you have that backwards. Most games I have been to it is the clock operator that is off by minutes. They never stop or start even when the signal to do so is given.
