Blake Shuley scored early for Highlands. Both teams had their share of good chances throughout. Best chance for St Henry was in second half when Nico Ross had a wide open look 10 yards out and fired into Highlands GK hands. Difference in game was probably Highlands back line play -- they were strong/physical and did a good job holding out St Henry... Sanders and Manahan in particular.

 

Interesting call late in second half when Center awarded indirect free kick for delay on Highlands GK without any warning, showing count, asking GK to put ball in play, etc. I know there is no requirement to give a warning, but it is pretty common practice to give at least some sign. Could have been a big moment in the game, but ultimately wasn't an issue.

 

Highlands got all their players in the game for significant minutes and St Henry subbed a lot of players as well. Nice to see coaches giving kids a chance make their case.

It was an interesting call but after watching the play. Pretty sure it was justified. Didn't really see the highlands bench explode in surprise over it either.

 

St Henry just didn't seem like they were able to build anything up from midfield. Highlands was looking a bit desperate at the end too, relying on kick ball to keep the attacks away. It worked though so I guess good for them.

Ha ha ha, that same blind squirrel correctly predicted Cooper 4- St Henry 2 in last years regional contest when every other squirrel with 20/20 vision predicted St Henry in a cake walk.

I would hope that the center would have communicated to the gk that he was on the clock. Normally the center would wait for time wasting on a goal kick while its a dead ball and just yellow card the keeper so as not to give a change of possession in a dangerous position. However that would make the team remove the goalie to the next substitution in high school.

I don't recall the warning given, at least on this play. I do remember seeing the keeper trying to adjust each sock and shinguard like 3 times a piece... As well as taking some time to get up after collecting the ball. All whole here was about 2 or 3 min left.
