PK question
The restart depends on where the ball goes. If it goes in the goal, it's rekick. If it is saved and held, let the keeper punt. If it's a corner or rebounds back to play the the defense gets an IFK to the defense. If it's a goal kick the it's a goal kick. Basically if the kicking team does something wrong you don't allow them to shoot again unless they put he ball in.

PK question
So what does it say about stutter steps vs stopping abruptly?
-
PK question
If it was truly a stutter step and not a complete stop I think that's legal now. Regardless if the ball goes in and the attacker does something wrong they are supposed to shoot again. The only issue would be if they faked actually kicking, then you lose the shot altogether. Or at least that's what I remember from youth. High school could be different.

Ties......Yawn
So under the old method, if the player didn't end up being offside then you have an AR 20-30 yards out of position. As far as the keeper being "distracted" causing an offside, that's not a situation where offside is called. It was actually a huge point of emphasis when I last took the ref course for youth soccer. Having watched enough of the MLS plays this year that clearly hasn't changed. The new method is by far more consistent with the rest of the rules. Nothing is signaled or indicated until the player actually does something which violates being offside. Which is how every other call in the game is. I get that it's a change and people are adjusting but it is most certainly a change to further consistency.

Ties......Yawn
Why? It makes it the same as all the other rules. Nothing is called until they violate the rule.

Ballard 2 Bishop Brossart 1 (Penalty Kicks)
Weren't a lot of those about the score. Debating what it should be listed as since it went to kicks? Are those the deleted posts?

I'll take your word for it, I wasn't there. I would think though if the AR wasn't sure then we wouldn't want the flag up and stopping the play. I would think the better option to to try and let what could be a legitimate goal play out and then talk about something after the fact. Rather than stop it only to find out you shouldn't have.- Covington Catholic 4 St Henry 0
Couple of revisions to offside are going to cause a lot of what people will think are strange calls. 1. The deliberate play issue with defenders. Remember deliberate, not good. 2. I assume high school adopted the change for the restarts where the kick is now where the offside occurs, like where the ball is touched. So the flags will be really delayed now. As far as raising the flag and having a convo, perhaps they had to discuss if the defender made the deliberate play? Just a guess.- Soccerama Schedule at Dixie Heights High School August 11 & 12
So which part are we denying happened? That the SK coach wanted to warm up behind a goal while another game was being played, the request to not do so and go where all the other teams had warmed up, the heated discussion (one or two sides), the pulling of the team from the complex and putting them back on the bus in "protest"? Just want to make sure I get all the "facts"- Soccerama Schedule at Dixie Heights High School August 11 & 12
Must be back in the girls forum. Speculation and bad blood for all. Let the season begin!- 2017 Highlands Preview
I agree, how does a high school association get to regulate what players do in their free time. Further when we are talking about school teams, which are often formed based on where a player lives based on districts, how do you tell a kid forced to go to a school that they can't play because, while they are in the top 6 overall they aren't in the top 5 of players that play for their club?- Soccerama
Full story?- Covington Catholic roster
No, 8th graders can't play varsity at all so unless it was a new program starting off with just JV that shouldn't be a possibility. However if you have to cut a potential entire other teams worth of players because you can't field a JV team without 7th and 8th graders that is a pretty big loss with regard to developing a program.- Covington Catholic roster
And if fielding 8th graders is the only way the high schoolers can even have a team at all? Now what?- Shortage of referees
yeah that's a good point too. Soccer, at least in Kentucky. I would assume is the most physically demanding sport to officiate.- Shortage of referees
No need to brag. Lol- Shortage of referees
Unfortunately I think too many of them know what they are in store for if they would ref. I don't know about you but I am not seeing a lot of new "young" faces out on the field as referees in the games I go to.- Shortage of referees
You are really shocked that ref numbers are down? A buddy told me the statistic on the youth side is like 50% don't come back every year. - Covington Catholic 4 St Henry 0
