Should the state tournament be seeded?
Didn’t I point out that not only did a single A school won the girls side but beat another single a school to do it? There was a period for a while where St. Henry boys and girls made it pretty far. Holy cross girls have also made the final.

I don’t understand? Did the game get ugly or was it poorly officiated, I didn’t hear any of he usually grumbling on here about this one.

soccer does that at the regional level. After that the only thing left are winners.

Should the state tournament be seeded?
You said they don’t have a shot. Clearly they do. To further illustrate: 1999 St Henry boys made it, lost to Ballard 2000 Holy Cross girls made it, lost to Sacred Heart We also have schools like Westport and Jefferson town in the early boys years. Admittedly I don’t know their size but let’s just say I don’t hear them mentioned anymore. That’s not even counting the schools that make it to the tournament and then get knocked out. Last year Collegiate was the favorite on the boys side and barely lost to Cov Cath even when they weren’t playing their best player. Let me clarify, I don’t have a problem with classing the schools. Seeding however goes against the spirit of high school athletics.

Should the state tournament be seeded?
Except the state final was not only won by a single A school less than 10 years ago, their opponent was also a single A school. It was a repeat of the all “A” final just with a different outcome.

High school sports, in KY at least, are as much about participation as winning. Probably more the former than the latter. I don’t see this changing any time soon.

Are Penalty Kicks the Answer?
A game that lasts hours isn’t a game that was played for hours. The actual action in a football game probably doesn’t even get close to the time spent not playing the game.

Could be because Soccer is a much longer game than basketball with much less stoppage to catch your breath. Saying just keep playing isn’t the answer for a game that is, at the high school level, an 80 minute contest with much more running.

Are Penalty Kicks the Answer?
I’ve never heard of an alternative that is superior. Soccer is too long and taxing of a game to say, just play until someone wins. That’s how injuries happen, either by clumsy tackles or just exhaustion of the body. The removing players idea is essentially the same thing as PKs. Because eventually it will just be scoring to score and that isn’t any more fair.

8th Region Bracket
Follow the money. That all I’ll say for those that complain.

Top 25 teams knocked out
Let’s face the facts. If we think the players that came before this and are on that list of all time scorers didn’t run up the goals on some weaker teams when they played we are kidding ourselves.

Good lord is this still being debated?

Highlands V Ryle in NKY JV Regional Final
Yet another year of bad blood at the JV tourney then I see.

Direct free kick fouls by the defense in their own box are PKs. Indirect free kicks result in an indirect free kicks.

Reasonable amount of time for GK
Not entirely sure about this based on description but if the ref decides the keeper has possession, then puts the ball down and picks it back up before another player touches then that's not allowed.
-
Reasonable amount of time for GK
Saw it one time and it was in last years highlands v Cov Cath game. I think it was the highlands keeper decided his shinguards needed to be adjusted like 4 times. No one really argued the call surprisingly.
-
Reasonable amount of time for GK
Wasn't there, but that isn't a card. Even when it is called. The last time I was at a ref course they were emphatic about that.

Field size?
I doubt it's less than 100. It's been a couple years since i ventured there but I doubt it's shorter than a pointy ball field. Certainly not 80.

Field size?
Pretty simple answer. Not all schools and facilities were built during the same time period. Regulations change but the ability to get more land and space does not.
-
Field size?
20 yards short of what?

Reasonable amount of time for GK
Right until it becomes unreasonable. I'm not trying to be snarky (not entirely). I think it depends on the game, score, which keeper. For instance, if the keeper is on the team down by 5 and they want to waste a little more of their own time, does it makes sense to hurry them along?
