Looks like a great effort in a tough loss by our guys to big-school Ballard in Colonel's Cup event at Covington Catholic on Tuesday night.

Tied 1-1 after regulation, Ballard won in PK's 4-2. Ballard led 1-0 after the first half until Brossart's Jordan Moore tied the game in the second half.

Ballard is playing in 2 tournaments this week. Busy week for 6 games.

Impressive outing by the Mustangs against a good Ballard team.

 

I don't see a disparity in the scores listed on here.

I saw that also that Ballard was playing 2 tournaments in the same week. If they play in the finals Saturday night that would be their second game of the day. They are scheduled to play at 11 at North Oldham.

Was this a pretty physical/emotional game? There's a lot of deletions going on.

Not a physical game IMO. Emotional, no more then a normal HS game played between two non rivals. Both teams looked tired the last 10 minutes or so which caused the quality of play to drop off. Not sure why the fatigue, it was the second game of the night, starting around 8PM so heat should not have been a big issue. Both coaches did a good job of rotating players on and off the field and it is very early in the season. Mention this to give you a feel for the game.

Weren't a lot of those about the score. Debating what it should be listed as since it went to kicks? Are those the deleted posts?

I never understood the (score) confusion, short of just not knowing how soccer records the score in a game decided by penalty kicks (pks). If you don't know how this is done why make a snide remark?

If a soccer game is tied after regulation, and overtime if that is how the tournament was set up, (some tournaments do not add an overtime, they go straight to pks) they go to pks to decide the winner. The official score is recorded by adding one goal to the teams that wins in pks. The score of this game at the end of regulation (80 minutes) was 1-1. No OT, they went straight to pks, Ballard made 4 pks, Bishop made 2 pks. The official score is then recorded as a 2-1 win for Ballard, exactly as posted on this thread.

@theguru, groinpull's suspension a short one, potential to be reduced? BGP Boys soccer traffic is significantly lacking, hate to loose one of the few that post, especially now that the season has kicked off.
