I think it is hard to say what matches will be "good ones".

Who knows what the coaches are trying to accomplish that weekend... Are they trying different lineups? Using the matches as part of tryouts? Holding players back? Have all players joined the team by then? Etc....

It is hard to grasp that we (my family) are not preparing to go to this event. Have done so for quite a few years, both with high school teams and with my kid's rec teams.

Time marches on.

At least I don't have to drive to Masterson Station and bake on those fields for a weekend.

Soccer season, YES.......let the entertainment begin. :lol2:

Soccer moms (and dads) = spike in BGP Moderation time. Just an observation.

Never been to BGSG. I would imagine there is a wide variety of objections to playing in these games? Experienced teams (large number of returning varsity players) looking to build on last season. Inexperienced teams using it for tryouts and/or trying to help determine which 13-15 players will be a factor this coming season, etc. Given the many different scenarios and these games are one week to a few days (depending on when teams actually start tryouts, 7/15 to 7/18) after the official start date of tryouts I would not expect them to provide any real outlook on the season.

Is this an accurate assessment?

As for Soccerama, maybe a different set of objections? 3+ weeks after the start of tryouts. By then teams are looking to play someone besides themselves in front of paying spectators! But again assume coaches will have different objections based on the make up of their roster.

It is exciting to be this close to another HS soccer season, especially NKY HS. One that appears to be wide open.

What dates are these games? I need to make sure my windows are rolled up. It always seems to rain.

Not a big fan of BGSG for HS soccer because the risk of injury outweighs any value you can get out of the games (IMO)...

1) Masterson fields can be hard in July if it hasn't rained and a mess if it does rain;

2) Some coaches let their teams play like it's a playoff game and not a preseason scrimmage;

3) it can be stinking hot, often two games in a day, and just a week after practices start when some players are not exactly matchfit.

Now the BGSG kickball competition... that's entirely another matter.

Is that soccer moms and dads or soccer moms and dad coaches?

Sure don't miss those weekends. Nights at the holiday inn for the first few years until we realized the best bet in town was the Embassy suites across the street. Love that included cook to order breakfast and the free happy hour.

I'm sorry. I'm going to have to report this post. Rule 11 violation. No sharing accounts.
