CCH dominated first half, thought they looked really good, played simple, combined well and found players with space. They had 2-3 good chances in the first half but could not find the back of the net.

Second half was even, Ryle had a nice shot go off the crossbar, CCH had a couple of good chances, one off a great cross that only needed to be redirected with any part of the body, could have been walked in off the chest, but somehow found it's way up and over the crossbar.

PKs were all well struck, CCH keeper makes one great save and that's the difference in advancing and the end of your season.

With CCH dominating the first half, second have played even, CCH win = fair result.

Good clean game, one yellow card that was questionable card, but over all two good teams just playing good soccer, no nonsense, nice to see.

Good luck to CCH in State Tournament, Ryle should be proud of a good season.

From where I was sitting, the Ryle shot, by Bolin... looked like it was going in until it drifted at the last second.

Agree that CCH was the better team the first half and had several chances, I think there was just one for Ryle. I felt that CCH should have been up a couple goals early on but the finishing was not there, too many corners not to convert at least one of them.

I thought that Ryle came out much more aggressive after the break, it made for a really good second half. Both teams had some good chances in the second half, maybe even more for CCH, a couple were right in front of goal that ended up being kicked over the crossbar.

Great season for Ryle, tough way to go out!!!

Good luck to CCH on Monday, represent NKY well boys!!!

Can the "village" try to educate me?

In the first half , the CR used the clock on the scoreboard. The second half ,he stopped the clock and there didn't seem to be any missed time stoppages......but at the end of regulation, he signaled he had the time on his clock.

Same with ot.....

Is there a rule about what to use in post season, or being consistent from one to the other?

Congrats to CCH on winning the Region. Fun game to watch. For Ryle Matt Roe was a warrior in midfield winning a lot of balls and initiating a lot of Ryle's counter-attacks. CovCath had more good chances but a high percentage off corners and in the run of play were air delivery to the back post (or beyond) where finishing was less than clinical. I was a little surprised that on a blustery night CCH didn't keep the ball on the carpet a bit more and/or ask Day to penetrate the box on the dribble - particularly from the right side. In the end job accomplished, but hopefully the offense finds their early season groove for next week's game(s). Defensively over the three Regional games I thought Darpel stood out among a strong CCH backline and Romes did everything required in goal. As strong as CovCath can be with the ball in attack, it feels like their defense really delivered Regionals for them. Keep rolling for NKY!

Agree that CovCath dominated the first half, possession had to be over 70% for the Colonels.

The shot for Ryle in the 2nd from about 25' out was amazing, and I firmly believe if not dead down wind in that direction, it dips just under the cross bar.

CovCath had three GREAT chances in the 2nd half, all from perfect Day crosses in the near corner, all blown over the crossbar. You HAVE to finish one of those.

Additionally, after the questionable yellow on #9 (don't want to misspell his last name) for Ryle, even though the service from Day was perfect, I would have liked to have seen him try to score on that. Sometimes the best player just needs to be the best player.

On that note, I get that Bryce is much the best, and I get that he is frustrated at times when he serves a perfect ball to a teammate at point blank range and it doesn't get tallied, but some of his reactions were a little over the top for me.

The Ryle kid who had his PK saved needs to worry less about replicating things he has seen on TV, and more about striking it well and burying it. The walk up, stutter step move looks weak when you get stoned.

Fun game. Nice crowd (great crowd given the conditions). Two robust student sections. Kudos to Ryle on playing very well, and congrats to the Colonels on surviving.

Good luck at State.

Cch stars need to take people on one v one. They can blow by them but didn't. Especially Brice Day and Wessels from midfield

I agree that they need to take people on if they can, they are both very dangerous when the ball is at their foot. As for blowing by them, I think they tried multiple times but Ryle can match their speed in the middle.... Roe and Bolin, along with some help from El-Gusain, did a good job in the middle, I thought all three of them played well tonight.

Let the least knowledgable soccer mind on the forum take a whack at it.

In today's Brossart-Campbell County girls regionals finals, the CR informed the time keeper to watch him at the 2:00 minute mark on the scoreboard. IF he signaled thumbs up, the clocker continued to keep the time on the stadium clock.

If he signaled thumbs down, as he did in the first half, the clock was to be stopped and time was kept on the field.

It seems to me that Day is much more comfortable being the facilitator, rather than the scorer. I think he is one of the best at attacking a defense and creating great chances for his team to score, I am not sure that he really has what I would call a scorer's mentality.

Agree on the PK that was saved. He seemed to be so focused on his approach and placement that he neglected to hit it well.

Ryle had some chances as was noted but on balance, the best team came away with the win in this game although it needed PK's to get there. As I have noted many times, the finishing has just not been there for CCH the last 4-6 weeks with 4 relatively easy chances all missed in the second half. CCH did move Day outside for a bit to help penetrate the Ryle defense and create chances so at least they tried something to generate a goal. More creativity needed. Huge, workhorse effort put in by Day and Wessels in the central midfield with neither leaving the field in 90 minutes of hard fought play. In the end, the Colonel defense delivered this championship for CCH, particularly Sam Romes and Ben Darpel. Well struck PK's by Litzler, Wessels, Day, Vogt and Stava got the job done at the end. Great save by Romes.
