I am talking about all teams being on a talent level that suits them. Yes, school size is a good starting place to decide these levels, but by no means the end all be all.

I knew that would get a rise out of you, if anybody. Here's the truth. You will see that over time teams that stay in classes that are TYPICALLY full of lesser talented schools will become complacent and fall back to the pack if you do not continue to challenge them to get better (this is no different than any other aspect of life). The only way to do this is to make their competition better. Let's take Mayfield for instance. It seems they have had no trouble moving from 1A to 2A, and are a better team for it. You see ATLCat, with this process happening the next hungry team is always coming up through the ranks. There is a cap to it. I would never suggest that Mayfield be moved to 6A, but a move to 3A in 10 years or so may not be out of the question.That could possibly be their cap. Your logic of only 3 quality classes holds no water here. What about the 2A team that has been moved to 3A, or the 4A team that moves up to 5A? Did you forget about those. Caldwell is a top tier 3A school, they too have seemed to have no problem adjusting. Will they always be a top 3A school? Time will tell. Maybe that move was best for them at this time. Maybe 10 or 20 years from now, they need to be a 2A school or a 4A school. You see ATLCat dominating a lower class is not a success, competing at a higher level is. If you move a team up, and 10 years later they have struggles to compete it would be best to move them down. Moving up a class should not be looked at like a punishment, but as an award for excellence. Pushing people to succeed is what it is all about, and rewarding them for such success. Instead, too many are worried about win/loss records and how many state titles the can accumulate. (NOT POINTING ANY FINGERS). Raising the standard for one school raises the standard for all.

Belfry should be a 4A school to start with. Actually, they should be going to the KHSAA and demand to be moved up a class. Currently there are two schools who should do this (Belfry and Bowling Green). When schools start doing this, the 6 Class system we currently have will start working for the benefit of the whole state and the state of high school football in Kentucky by raising the competition level. Not running the offense leads to kids not being ready to take over certain positions once it is their time. Lets take a QB who is a freashman sitting behind a senior QB in a spread offense. You want him to just hand the ball off, and not get comfortable with running the "normal" offense? With that train of thought you a shortchanging the freshman by not allowing him to learn the offense in a game situation. Something impossible to duplicate in practice. Realize that next season, or possibly the next game with an injury to the starting QB, this will be the #1 QB. Just allowing him to only be in there for run plays, only leads to punishing this kid. Let him run the offense that he has, and the other trailing team adjust accordingly.

Running up the score with the 1st string in is absolutely ridiculous. However, when the second string or lower is inserted into the game it is to the benefit for that squad to run the same offense they would normally run. If they too, continue to raise the spread then the team leading should begin simply taking a knee or half hearted runs. EXAMPLE: team A leads by a score of 35 - 0. team A then inserts its #2s and continues to run regular offense the score is now 49 - 0. Team A should begin kneeling and not continue to run normal offense. This allows team A to develop its players for future games, without damaging the team B's psychy. Real time play is extremely hard to duplicate in practice, and these kids deserve the right to develop themselves when the opportunity arises.

I think Mayfield will blow Caldwell out at home. I believe that was the outcome 2 years ago. Caldwell will have to really step up to be in this game.

BAD IDEA. Don't you just nullify the regular season? What if one district has the best two or three teams of the two districts? Boyle and Lex Cath are great examples this past season. You not only take them out even earlier, but you also allow a for a blowout in later rounds when the other district is weak.

"PLAYING UP" should always be an alternative. "PLAYING DOWN" never should be considered. I agree that moving up in class after dominance of the class you are in over a period of time. Belfry, Bowling Green, Mayfield, NCC are good examples.

So let me get this straight, two coaches came to see this kid and said that the AD told them that the kid's scholly would be honored. If I am understanding this right, an assistant coach or 2 that miraculously saved their job through a coaching change told a kid that the AD said that the school will honor their commitment to him eventhough they had a coaching change and now that is not the case. Sounds to me like they didn't get rid of quite enough of the coaching staff.

I love this question. It seems that if you have a graduating senior QB, coaches need to let the potential starter next season learn the system. Help me understand the thought process of letting a guy go three and out and learn very little. Wouldn't the future starter benefit from running the full offense in games he can't lose, than waiting another season to put his feet to the fire? THANKS in advance for all replies.

Seems to be a normal thing in sports in Kentucky. Most think the state stops at I-65. Wonder if Sindelar getting this award last year made an impact on nominations this season considering all the crying done on the other end of the state.

Caldwell too will take a pretty good hit. Losses of Cain, Anderson, Young, Logsdon, Mitchell, and others. Will be hard to replace.

Just trying to make a point. Yes, I had my hopes up, and everyone around me would tell you I was very skeptical even then. You brought up match-ups, not me. Didn't feel they could finish a run, but Caldwell did have the talent. Everyone has off nights, even in November. Show me one team that didn't and played a quality team the week before. Some times it doesn't take an off game, maybe just a bad play, lazy throw, a little careless and boom too late. All this stuff you keep laying out there has no sense to it. Belfry won. Came out of a soft bracket. Drummed a team in the finals. Which, by the way, was the best team they played in November by far.

Does a hail mary win at the end of the game really mean you are better than the team you beat? I do not think so. I am not saying Caldwell goes to BG if that doesn't happen, but who knows. Was Caldwell a better matchup for LexCath? I think so, but that means nothing. WHAT YOU HAVE TO REALIZE IS THAT THESE BREATHERS, LET DOWNS, EGG LAYINGS, ETC HAPPEN TO EVERY TEAM ALL THE TIME. HECK BELFRY DID IT TWICE THIS SEASON IN BACK TO BACK GAMES. We all agree that Belfry is/was the best 3A team out there in 2015.

Lets see here. Bear with me ATLCat, E'town lost to LexCath after what may have been the best game of the year. So there is one team. Central lost to LexCath after getting by Boyle County. So that makes two. LexCath lost to Belfry after fighting through both Central and E'town. That is THREE. Belfry lost to Midland (where they played like crap) after taking on Knoxville, and then narrowly ESCAPED Lawrence County (another game they played like crap). So if you want to count Belfry twice that would be 5, if not at least 4.
