  1. Graves 3 and out. Punt. BG ball at the Fraves 45. 8:28 to go 1Q 7-0 BG
  2. Purples in purple jerseys and gold pants and helmets. Graves in all white with Silver helmets. BG to receive.
  3. Just watched the first Graves County offensive series vs Greenwood. Graves QB Gregory faked the handoff to the RB and ran the ball in from about the 20 yard line for a TD. But the announcer reported that he got confirmation that the refs "didn't see the play". So they gave Graves the ball first and 10 at the 10 yard line. I've never seen that ever. I'm sure many were perplexed at that game. Any word on QB Gregory's status?
  4. So this is a NFHS covered (streamed) game? I know BG is not affiliated with them. I guess Graves is? But they are the away team. Would they have to get BG's ok to do that? Just curious.
  5. I agree Coach, should be a close one. But the poll is really interesting to me 13-3 Simpson. I wouldn't have expected that. Plus its a 2.5 hour trip on a bus to Morganfield from Franklin. That's a factor to me. I like Franklin just on paper, but Union at home pushes me to a pick em game. If the Franklin D can contain Johnson for Union (easier said than done) then I still like Franklin by a slim margin.
  6. Red Devils need to throw first. They won't be able to line up and just run straight forward in this game. Get your short passing game going and then slip in a few running plays. Get the South LBs off the line of scrimmage and you can have some success. Just because you punt doesn't mean it's a failed drive. The Red Devils D will need to take some chances; calculated chances to run blitz and blitz. Button is a tough customer back there, but if he has all day to throw that is a bad situation for O. Additionally, you might have to add a spy to track Button running the ball as he's an excellent runner as well.
  7. So, is Boley still the front runner due to his UK connection?
  8. Butler (4-7) at Atherton (10-1) These newly formed district mates will lace em up a second time this season. Atherton prevailed 20-6 over Butler on September 29 this season. The Bears of Butler only managed 16 yards of total offense in that game. WOW! Atherton Information The Ravens are blazing their own trail this season and already have the most wins in any season in school history and looking to make it to the Regional Final Round for the first time in school history! WELL DONE! New Atherton Coach Anthony White has done a SUPER job! The Ravens leading rusher is Micheal Curry with 100 carries on the season and 757 yards and 14 TDs. Butler Information The Bears won their first playoff game (coming to 5A in the latest reclassification) since 2018 with a 6-0 win at Moore last week. Congrats! The Bears are led on defense by Antrel Baldon with 51 tackles on the year. Can Butler find any offense or defensive scores to light the scoreboard vs the Ravens? Should be an entertaining game. What say you?
  9. This should be a great game! Really interested to see how this version plays out. Hart seems on a mission, but have to think Glasgow has that revenge factor to sour their mouths on. Should be a close game.
  10. Great game for any real high school football fan. Good luck to both teams.
  11. Tilghman 62 East 12 Long Night and bus ride home for Raider Nation.
  12. South Warren (9-2) at Owensboro (7-4) South will drive about an hour up the old Green River Parkway to make their first visit to Rash Stadium. This will be only the second meeting between these teams. South defeated Owensboro at home in the Regional Final Round of the 2018 playoffs 44-7. South would go on to win their second state championship that year. Owensboro Information The Red Devils are a pretty young team and have taken their first district loss in nearly a decade, but they are playing pretty well right now. While they have not put their best game together yet, I feel they are capable to do so. Even though they will be at home, they won't be the favorite in this game. That should inspire the Red Devils to come out and play their best game yet. QB Trevor Delacey has played pretty well throwing for over 1,800 yards with 19 TDs vs 9 INTs. RBs Evan Hampton (over 1,000 yards) and Deon Winstead (over 600 yards) are very good players. O has 4 players with over 20 receptions on the season. Defensively, Elijah Hampton leads the team with nearly 70 tackles on the year. South Warren Information The Spartans rolled Madisonville at home 50-12. It was a running clock before halftime. JR Start QB Bryce Button played well along with many other Spartans. Spartans playing well. Game Information Game will be played at historic Rash Stadium. This in itself gives the Red Devils a punchers chance. South is the favorite, but Owensboro is a dangerous opponent IMO, especially at home. What say you?
  13. Graves County (8-3) at Bowling Green (8-3) Is it 2014 all over again? Graves County will travel about 2.5 hours east to take on Bowling Green for the 5th time. Bowling Green leads the series 3-1, but it's that 1 that has me shaking my head to this day. Bowling Green came into that 2014 Regional Final home game rolling having only lost a heartbreaker to McCallie, TN 21-20. Graves County lost 3 of their first 4 that season to good teams and seemed to turn it around when they beat a good McCracken County team and won out to this game. The great Cody Crowder, who I still say was a better LB than a RB played a whale of a game in this one and a second quarter Crowder TD would be all the Eagles would need to stun the Purples who were the 3 time back to back to back champions at the time. The other 3 meetings were also in the playoffs. Graves County Information The Eagles have beaten the teams they are supposed to beat and lost to the teams I think you'd expect them to lose to (Tilghman, Mayfield and Owensboro). But they are a solid ballclub. QB Caden Gregory (they always have a Gregory on the roster don't they) has played well this year throwing for nearly 1650 yards and 20 TDs vs 10 INTs with his man target the very undervalued Lincoln Acree who has over 60 receptions nearly 1,000 yards and 10 TDs. The Eagles also have balance and have 2 rushers who have over 600 yards a piece in Cole Katzman and Dennis Marrs. LB Kace Tubbs leads the Eagles in tackles with an impressive Bowling Green Information The Purples had no problems disposing of Apollo 48-6 with the BG D giving the offense good field position. BG was also getting yards on special teams with Ethan Warder running a punt back for a TD. BG had a running clock in the 2nd quarter and scored all their points in the first half. Primarily all second string guys in for the second half. And on to the Eagles. Game Information This game will be played at Bowling Green High School Stadium and turf field. This game feels a lot like that 2014 game. Bowling Green is the clear favorite, but they need to come out strong and prove they are the better team early in this one. The longer Graves hangs around the more dangerous they become. I don't see Cody Crider walkin through that door and this BG offense is A LOT different than the 2014 offense. I look for BG to roll in this game, but the early part of the game is important to set the tone for the Purples.
  14. 5 - Woodford County 4 - Simon Kenton 3 - Bishop Brossart 2 - Greenwood 1 - Ballard
  15. Madisonville North Hopkins (8-2) at South Warren (8-2) The Maroons head to Bowling Green to take on South Warren in the first round of the 2023 5A Playoffs. Both of these teams were in 4A not too long ago. These 2 have only played once before and that was in the first round of the 2016 4A Playoffs with South winning 48-20 at home. Madisonville pulled a pretty big upset upending Owensboro at home 45-38. That created a 3-way tie for first place in 5A District 1 where RPI settled the playoff seeding with Madisonville drawing the short straw and being sent on the road to South Warren. I don't really know much about Coach Chris Price, Sr's team, but 8-2 is a good record, but South Warren is likely a different level of opponent for them. South Warren played on Thursday last week and defeated an overmanned Logan County squad 42-6 where the game was never in question. South seems set up to make a deep playoff run here. Can the Maroons pull the upset or will South Warren begin that deep playoff run?
  16. Apollo (2-8) at Bowling Green (7-3) – Part 2 The Apollo Eagles will head down the old Nather Parkway a second time this season to take on the Purples for the 18th time in the series. The Eagles are the #4 Seed in 5A District 1, while the Purples are the #1 seed in 5A District 2. These 2 played way back on September 8th with the Purples winning 57-7. Eagles Coach John Edge is a good coach who has been around for some time and I expect he’ll have his team as ready as possible. But they are really young this season and building for the future IMO. So just not sure that will be enough in this one. The Purples will get a chance to get back on the field after an uneven performance against a very good St X team last Friday. BG lost 27-12 and in a lot of ways it wasn’t that close. I felt the BG defense played pretty darn well against a tough and rugged Tiger offense and kept the game within reach most of the way. But BG’s offense just hasn’t been the same the past couple weeks with the Oline struggling the most. BG won’t face a DLine or Oline like that the rest of the way so its time to ramp up for another playoff run that on paper looks favorable for the Purples for awhile anyway. Can the Eagles pull the upset or will Bowling Green get back in the win column?
  17. I'm not sure I've seen a program fall this far this fast. The Kolby Langhi teams not too far back were tough teams the Purples struggled with at times but my goodness the wheels have come off.
