After a week off due to no opponent in the first round, the 2A #1 ranked Beechwood Tigers will host the Walton Verona Bearcats this Friday in Ft. Mitchell in a round 2 playoff game. Walton Verona defeated Morgan County 49-6 in their round 1 game. That was the Bearcats first playoff win in 3 years and head coach Gary Pence's first playoff win as head coach in his second season on the job. Beechwood and Walton Verona faced each other in district play during the regular season with Beechwood winning 69-0 at Walton Verona. Beechwood held the Bearcats to 66 yards of offense in their first meeting. Walton Verona has won 4 of 5 games since that regular season game against Beechwood.

A big factor in the success of Walton Verona since that loss to Beechwood is the return from injury of WR Michael Oldfield. In the four regular season games to end the season, Oldfield averaged just under 100 yards a game receiving, scored 5 TD's and is averaging over 20 yards per catch. That has brought balance to the Bearcats offense and enabled RB Andrew Lynn to rack up a couple strong rushing games of 185 yards and 142 yards. The defense is led by Jr Alexander Yutze with 105 tackles and Jr Cooper Bunch with 14.5 tackles for loss.

Beechwood is a high powered, fast offensive machine that leads the state in scoring, averaging 51.6 points per game. Beechwood's defense is #4 in the entire state allowing only 8 points per game. The offense is passing oriented, led by Jr Emmett Queen. Queen leads 2A in completion percentage at 71.7, has thrown 31 TD passes and only 2 INT's. Jr WR Tyler Fryman is one of only 4 receivers in the state with more than 1,000 yards receiving. His fellow Jr WR Nathan Pabst is averaging 22 yards per catch. DE Chase McDaniel has 6 sacks and 21 tackles for loss, among the state leaders in that category.

Can the Bearcats use their winning momentum to make this rematch more of a battle?

I know usual home games are 730p but I heard 7p for tonight.  Can someone confirm game time for me?

The KHSAA says 730 and at least the advertisement I saw from Beechwood earlier in the week said 730.  However, who knows..

Thanks.  I believe 730p is correct.  

Mixlr also has 7:30 pm so I would say with 95% certainty it’s 7:30 pm. 
 

I don’t see this game being much different except Beechwood trying to get out of it a bit faster to try and stay injury free for the upcoming rounds. Walton has really turned their season around at the end of the season.
