Very sorry to hear this. He is an outstanding QB. Injuries are the worst part of the game IMO. And all teams deal with them to some degree unfortunately.

5A Playoffs - Second Round Atherton Ravens (10-1) vs Jeffersontown Chargers (6-5) Well, we are running out of games now and this one is one of only 2 on Thursday Night. Tip of the Cap to JCPS and/or Atherton for moving this game to Waggener who has a brand new turf field! Nice job! Jeffersontown has defeated Waggener, Doss, Caverna, Moore, North Bullitt and Seneca. They were defeated by Rockcastle County, Holy Cross (Louisville), Fairdale, Bullitt Central and Southern. Atherton has only lost to Manual. They have defeated Central Hardin, Southern, Mercer County, Eastern, Fern Creek, Butler, Seneca, Iroquois North Oldham, and North Bullitt. Everything points to another running clock game for Atherton. Anything else to see here? My only question is will Atherton play the Regional Final game at Waggener also?

How many Apollo players play both ways? For Bowling Green, Jaxen Smith starts at HB and DE. Zyrek Burton starts at OLB and he could get a snap or two at RB maybe. WRs Travey Barber and Hudson Nottmeier and OL Caleb Ray might come in for a few downs on D if needed but its not that common.

After Friday Night you won't have to worry about one of these!

I thought this game was at Male since Male was #1 seed in district and Manual #2 seed in district. Still like Manual to roll in this game though!

The Brazilian Grand Prix was action packed. So much in it that I think reading and then watching the race highlights is your best approach: HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the drama-filled Sao Paulo GP as Lando Norris takes victory over Kimi Antonelli and Max Verstappen But Lando Norris wins and had a great weekend and now owns a 24-point lead over his teammate Piastri who finishes 5th today. Norris is also nearly 50 points clear of Max Verstappen who had a poor start to the weekend and then started on the pit lane and ran it all the way to 3rd place on the podium. He was just held off by a Great effort for Mercedes Rookie Kimmie Antonelli who drove the Silver Arrows tires off this weekend. Great effort to get his career best 2nd place. They move now to Las Vegas in 2 weeks in a race that should set up better for Verstappen, but he is now likely too far back with only 3 races to go to win now, I think. But still should be a good race!

Well for you Brown, I will give you my Drive-Thru Special! Owensboro Red Devils The Red Devils are about a month away from the year anniversary where Coach Jay Fallin stepped down. From there we were treated with a 40-page BGP thread on who and when the new coach would be. Coach Demarcus Ganaway Sr was selected and since that selection he has come to Frederica Street and done a Super job. All the news I hear is positive coming from O. Yes, they were overmatched vs St X and CAL, but just about everyone else is too. They then got over the hump vs a very good OCath team (34-21) and from there the machine has just been rolling along. In their 7 games after Catholic, they have scored no fewer than 42 points per game with 4 of those games scoring 60 points. FOUR! Of those 4 teams, Owensboro was the ONLY team to score that many points on them this season. With that said, they have not played a team that "could" beat them since September 12. That's 2 months ago. That's the only down side I see. The rest is great for "maybe" Owensboro's best chance at a State Title since 2020. They are #2 in RPI meaning they wouldn't play on the road till the State Finals. That ranking also means this is their last "test" until the semi-finals IMO. Lot of momentum. Hampton, Ganaway Jr., and Dillard form a great offensive engine the Red Devils have ridden to Week 2. Greenwood Gators Coach William Howard has built a strong football culture at Greenwood. They have great numbers for a 5A team, and this 2025 team has for me outperformed where I thought they would be. Their offensive line is physical. Their defensive front 7 is on par with any defensive front 7 in 5A. SR RBs Davis Chaney and Nathan Self are really good ball carriers, and they have gained over 1,300 yards and 20 TDs between them. They are not near the offensive engine that Owensboro is, but they are methodical and good at working within their system and it brought them within 3 points of Bowling Green, something they have NEVER done before and has them here in Round 2 looking for the upset. Game Items This is an interesting game. Owensboro is the heavy favorite. And NEVER discount what @DragonFire says in these type games! Zero and 12 is a HARD number to overlook. And I don't. But I didn't against BG either and Greenwood nearly shocked the State that night. In that BG game, Greenwood was helped by some holding penalties on BG to negate some early scores. In this Owensboro game, Greenwood needs the same thing and turnovers in their favor to keep them in this game. If they get that, and the game settles into a tight battle, the longer it goes the more dangerous Greenwood becomes. And they won't quit. That along with confidence makes them dangerous here. The first quarter is ULTRA-critical for Greenwood! If they can hang around like they did at Bowling Green, then the Gators hopes improve. If they get behind early, it's likely a really long game for the men in Green! Good luck to both teams!

You don't get a talent like Hightower very often. Would have liked to get past the first round with this team. BUT Greenwood is a very solid team. I don't expect them to beat Owensboro with the way O is playing, but I could see it being tight for awhile.

6A Playoffs – Round 2 Hopkinsville (7-4) at South Warren (12-0) This will be the 5th and last meeting between these 2 teams with the Spartans leading the series 4-0. They first met in the second round of the 2016 4A playoffs at Hopkinsville where QB Ryder Litton (was also QB of South’s first State Championship team the year before in 2015) would lead the Spartans along with Kayron Namvong (175 yards rushing and 2 TDs) and former Michigan State 3-year letter winner CJ Hayes (a receiving TD and a critical 21-yard pick 6) to a 28-24 win. The Spartans then moved to 5A in 2017 where they defeated Hoptown 35-14 and again in 2018 49-17. They also played this season back in mid-September in a lightning delayed game where scoring went back and forth before South prevailed 33-21. Hopkinsville Tigers Information – (TP94 Ranking: 42.25) This very likely is the last game ever for the Hopkinsville Tigers. Wow! That makes me very, very sad to hear of this end of such a strong program through the years. But “consolidation” seems to be the direction selected. So be it, but buyer beware is all I’ll end with! Coach Dustin Lopez has done a very underrated job this season holding the Tigers together and playing good football. Nice job Coach Lopez! Two QBs have gotten time this season for the Tigers with SO Jasiah McCarley being the most successful QB with 1,700 yards passing with 17 TDs vs only 6 INTs. Hoptown is led in rushing by SR RB James Bradley with 175 carries for 1,184 yards and 20 TDs on the season. The top WR is SR Aiden Jesse with 30 catches for nearly 600 yards and 8 TDs. Defensively, SR Foster Jackson leads the way with 90 tackles, 9 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks on the year. Nice Work Mr. Jackson! South Warren Spartan Information – (TP94 Ranking: 89.64) South Warren is on a roll, undefeated and playing with high confidence. Will the conveyor belt of overmatched teams end for South. Not this week. The Spartan Coaches can continue their Louisville School scouting and planning, which must be coming closer to two months now. They won’t need to plan for this game. They already did back in Week 5. Plain and simple. The Spartans are led by JR QB Camden Page (1,651 yards passing with 19 TDs vs 5 INTs). SR RB Kayden York continues his fine play. He has 612 yards rushing and 220 yards receiving on the season with 18 combined TDs. SR Jake Carter leads the Spartan WRs with 50 catches for 658 yards and 7 TDs on the year. Defensively, South has only given up 31 points in the last 5 games and all in mop up time. South’s defense is why they have a chance to win 6A this season IMO. Game Preview South didn’t play great the last time they played Hoptown, but I think the weather delay had a lot to do with that. I look for South to end this game pretty quickly with their defense setting their offense up with great field position. Plain and Simple. I just don’t think this game will be competitive. South Big!

5A PLAYOFFS – ROUND 2 Apollo (6-5) at Bowling Green (5-6) The Eagles fly down the Old Green River Parkway southeast to Bowling Green to take on the Purples in the Second Round of the 5A 2025 Playoffs. This will be the 20th game all time between these two teams with BG leading 17 to 2. They started playing in 1975 at Apollo with the Purples coming away with a 26-7 win. The Eagles would win in back-to-back years in 1983 (20-14) and 1984 (12-11). Their most recent game was last year during the regular season that BG won 49-14, but Apollo came out of the gates great in this game and led BG thanks to the effort of then SR Niles Board. BG would overtake the Eagles in the second quarter, but it was tight early. Apollo Eagles Information (TP94 Rating: 52.68) Head Coach John Edge is a fine football coach now in his 6th year off Tamarack Road. The Eagles have already matched their high win mark during Coach Edge’s administration when they finished 6 and 5 in 2021. A win here in BG would allow the Eagles to take the next step forward. The question is, can they? The Eagles are led by undervalued JR QB Max Johnson who has thrown for over 2,100 yards on the year with 23 TDs vs 9 INTs. JR John Milburn leads the team with just under 500 yards on the year with 112 carries and 7 TDs. The top Eagles WRs include SRs Landen Bratcher and Ehmadjai Badger who have roughly 100 catches on the year with about 1,500 receiving yards and 17 TDs combined. Defensively, the Eagles are led by SRs John Edge and Roderick Dillard who have roughly 180 tackles between the two. Bowling Green Purples Information (TP94 Rating: 66.77) The Purples needed last week. Getting back to when things clicked; when the defense was swarming; heck just to get back in the win column; to finish off senior night on a high note and to start feeling better about themselves again. BG did just that against a solid young Graves County team. FR QB Anthony Davis (AD) has been very solid for BG since taking over at halftime during the St X game back in late August. AD has over 1,400 yards passing with 16 TDs and only 2 INTs (both during the Scott County game – his first varsity start ever - and one of those in desperation time at the end of the game). Well done! It is important that young Mr. Davis continue to take steps forward during this his first varsity playoff run! BG is led by the Graham Brothers Nick and Trey in rushing with roughly 750 yards on the year with 7 TDs. SR WR Travey Barber is back from injury (this will be his 4th game back). SR Jaxen Smith leads BG with 32 catches for over 400 yards and 5 TDs. Defensively, SR LB Montez Trussell continues to lead BG with 96 tackles on the year with 10 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Another name I wanted to mention is SR Dru Jones who has played so well at CB for BG but had a great hustle play last night coming down the field and overtaking Travey Barber to make the last block needed on the beginning of the second half kickoff TD run by Barber. Just feel BG Seniors are really locked in now. Game Preview This will be the 7th playoff meeting between these teams and the very first game outside of the first round of the playoffs with this game in the Regional Semifinals. Just to get right to it: What is it going to take for the Eagles to have a chance on the road? These are my top 4 factors to consider in determining this: 1. How healthy is Apollo? It appears QB Max Johnson went out in the 2nd Quarter of last night's game and some of their better WRs have been out the last few games. Can they play at a top level this Friday? I think that is a big deal. 2. If not Max Johnson, Apollo will need a Herculean effort out of SR John Edge to fill in in that spot! He would need the game of his life IMO to pull this off for the Eagles. From there: 3. Win the turnover battle. 4. Have less penalties than BG. My top factor for BG is simple. Win the first quarter with at least a TD lead, which would mean starting the game well. I think this kind of start would put the Eagles behind the 8 Ball and be tough to come back from. What say you? Who wins this game and why?

I think St X would still win (hopefully not by that many), but yes BG has alot of players out still playing football.
