Logan County through to the second round for first time in two years after a 35-12 victory over Marion County.  Elizabethtown also returns to the second round for the first time since 2023 in their first year in 4A, advancing past Calloway County with a 42-7 decision.  Elizabethtown has not advanced to the third round since 2020 when they won 3A, while Logan County has not reached the region finals since 2022 when they eventually fell to Central.

Elizabethtown, champions of the 2nd district, are 8-3 on the year.  Logan County, the 2 seed out of the first district, is 9-2, and closed the regular season as BGP's #8 team in 4A.  

On paper, this appears to be Logan County's to lose.  Does homefield advantage play any role in helping Elizabethtown turn the tide? Or will the Cougars justify their rank?

 

It is no accident that under Tyler Mattingly, the Panthers have made a dramatic turn- around from the past 2 years. He was a significant part of the South Warren team winning multiple state titles and played a significant role in Central Hardin having the best years in program history when he was the offensive coordinator. I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers win this game.

 

Logan County's defense is pretty good, but home field and turf help E-town here.

Gonna be a good game here but COUGARS!!

When I look at the quote from "The Scribe" that the Logan County defense is pretty good, I see on the KHSAA website that they are giving up an average of 20 points per game? Elizabethtown is giving up an average of 24 points per game. Sounds like a high scoring affair that hopefully comes down to the last play of the game to determine a winner. Looking forward to this one!

49 points came to South Warren and 35 to Tilghman, two high-powered offenses. They give up 14 a game outside of those two.  

If this game were at Logan County I’d say the Cougars by 3-4 scores, with it being on the road I’ll take LC by 10.

I think that Elizabethtown has a better defense than Franklin Simpson and maybe just as good on offense. We shall see? Elizabethtown is a young team with most skill position players (QB/RB), sophomores.

Sounds like you think Franklin and Etown are fairly even, if that’s the case I don’t think that bodes well for the panthers. If I’m not mistaken Logan beat Franklin 63-27 on the road.

that game was really close at one point, 27-28 or 27-35 if memory serves and then franklin fumbled a couple times and it got away from them. 

I think Logan County should be favored in this matchup but Etown is a rising team with young players that won a district title this season and should be much improved next season with only 9 seniors and QB Ethan Shelton, RB Antonio Kinzer, and WR Jace Hagy, and leading tackler Darian Bryant, all Sophomores, returning next season.

Logan County is in the same shape it looks like. With only 9 seniors. 4 starters on Offense and 3 on defense (one plays both ways). This should be a good game! Will it be online anywhere?
