Did CovCath suddenly turn into the underdog in this game?

Beechwood always gets up for the Blue Colonels. Throw records out, throw statistics out, these teams play hard in this game. Beechwood is definitely getting better each week and this should be a great game. I like the Colonels in this one by 14

Heck no! That's crazy to even say. Trinity and Male would beat them easily....as they would most teams in this state

Highlands will get better. If covcath stays healthy, it is possible, but until they win one, I will say no.

In 2009, HC fumbled in OT to lose by one point. Beechwood was winless at that point in the year and HC was loaded with talent.....but found a way to lose. 2010, again, 4 tries to score from inside the 10yrd line late in the 4th qtr, can't get t done. Way more talent, just didn't get it done. My point, it doesn't matter how much talent HC has if they don't execute. This year seems to be the same as those two years I just mentioned. Way more talent, but if they don't execute, it won't matter.

I think HC should have beaten Beechwood 2 or 3 times over the past 10years. The fact that they always find a way to lose against Beechwood, I will say that Beechwood will win. Until HC gets over the hump, this isn't even a rivalry game. I do think that HC has way more talent than Beechwood this year, but if they aren't used correctly, it really doesn't matter. I hope to see this game

SK is #1 until someone beats them, which no one in NKY has done since 2014. Ryle should be #2. Campbell hasn't proven to be #3 yet. I would say either Cooper, Conner, or CovCath would be #3. Those teams would be my #3-5 . Campbell has a really nice team this year, but until they beat someone in 6A, I think they are 6-10.

Let's not give Wirth credit for the schedule that this team was handed. He had Cincy St X on it last year for the Colonels. Coach Eviston replaced them with Oak Hills which was a much better game. Covcath was a huge underdog last night and pulled out the win. The credit goes to Coach Eviston, his staff, and those boys for getting the job done against a really good fball team.

Oh boy, this isn't the year anyone in NKY wants to play Sycamore. I hope the Colonels are competitive and don't sustain any injuries, win or lose. Sycamore is a huge favorite

I think 1 and 2 are correct. 3-6 is still up for debate. Any of them could be in any order. Think Conner might be better than #9 as well. If Holy Cross beats Taft next week, they will easily be in the top 10 and should probably already be there, in my opinion. NCC should be lower than 9 with the way they lost to Cooper

Holy Cross has athletes, but haven't been tested yet. Their schedule is pretty soft. When they play Beechwood, which they should beat this year, we will find out how good they are

I agree. Top 2 are definite. 3-6 could be a coin toss. CovCath beat Campbell, although it was a scrimmage. Highlands beat Cooper. Campbell beat Highlands. Any of these teams could beat each other in my opinion and are really close at this point in the season.

You are correct. The non district schedule is pretty weak for a top 5 team in the state. I would think they would beef up the non district schedule so they can be battle tested for the playoffs and make a serious run at a state championship

Hard to know how good Simon Kenton is because they don't have anyone scheduled that will test them in the regular season.

Interesting to see what Bowling Green does with St. X this week. LexCath gave St X all they could handle and Bowling Green is much better than LexCath. St. X should have a better first half showing this week. I think Cov Cath and Highlands both lose this week. I am not sure anyone in 5A could beat Sycamore or Scott Co except maybe Bowling Green, and I think Bowling Green would be the underdog in both matchups with Sycamore and Scott Co, especially Sycamore. I don't think CovCath or highlands should fall much with competitive losses here, especially CovCath playing Sycamore. I think the rest of the top 10 will win this week with ease

Do you know if something was brewing for awhile between the two coaches? Either way, handle your business like a man and do what your boss tells you needs to be done. Woolley is the head coach and has the final say what happens with his program. I don't know what the exact circumstance was, but I would think that you have to suck it up and finish what you started for the kids. Simpson might have known Scott was gonna struggle and was looking for a way out. I don't know that as a fact, but since we are talking circumstantial information, there is mine

Him being a former D1 player 30 years ago has nothing to do with the fact he handled this situation poorly. He is indeed gone and Casey Fisk has now replaced him as Defensive Coordinator. Casey is a former head coach with many years of experience. This is a good thing for Scott

Him quitting might be a good thing for Scott. I heard he never went to meetings, was late or a no show to practice, and didn't want to work with anyone other than himself. Scott's loss might be their gain. Hopefully the coaches and the kids can dive in deeper and get the season back on track this week. Good luck to all involved, including Simpson. Hopefully he can learn that a disagreement with a coach resulting in quitting is a poor example for the kids to see. It is ok to disagree, but do it behind closed doors or be professional about it
