I want to start this thread off first by saying I only heard this from someone I have not confirmed, has anyone heard about coach Simpson quitting yesterday in the middle of practice? I hope not for the kids sake

I heard that he did quit but actually happend after the NCC game. Pretty poor role model if you ask me. These kids were counting on him and now due to a disagreement with the head coach he bailed. Suck it up and resign the right way at the conclusion of the season.

I've ways heard "cut it where it bleeds less" I'd rather have disagreements/tension for a game, then let it drag along for a whole season.

What position did he coach?

Defense. I Agree AreLinz except what kind of message does this send to the boys? Arguement was petty from what I hear. Sit, talk it out and move on like men then if at season end still unhappy move on.

Him quitting might be a good thing for Scott. I heard he never went to meetings, was late or a no show to practice, and didn't want to work with anyone other than himself. Scott's loss might be their gain. Hopefully the coaches and the kids can dive in deeper and get the season back on track this week. Good luck to all involved, including Simpson. I am an outsider, and only saw Scott once or twice. But I wouldn't say he was an "engaged" coach. Right or wrong, I hardly noticed him react, or talk to kids. So outside of teaching kids about quitting, I'm not sure the Scott staff will be overly concerned. Things happen, this wouldn't be a discussion if he wasn't a D1 player previously.

Does anyone know that he is officially gone? I have only heard rumors that I was unable to substantiate as of yet.

Him being a former D1 player 30 years ago has nothing to do with the fact he handled this situation poorly. He is indeed gone and Casey Fisk has now replaced him as Defensive Coordinator. Casey is a former head coach with many years of experience. This is a good thing for Scott

Hate that Scott is going through this right at the start of the season. Good news it's early so they have time to work around it and get back on track for the season.
