Wow. Congrats to Trimble County! Is this their first title?

Jenkins plays Leslie County in the championship, a team they beat 70-61 on January 13th. I'm really hoping to see Whitney play in the state tournament!

I'm hoping the Titans can keep it close on Monday. They play good defense but just can't put the ball in the basket. I don't think Collins can score enough to win, especially against a scoring machine like South. I hope I'm wrong.

Final As exciting as last night's games were, this one unfortunately was not.

SK will win by 20+. Owen has some size but they aren't very athletic.

Jakson Test led the Titans with 15 points. Grant Clarkson had 14 and Dominique Turner had 11.

Carroll County does seem like a more centralized location. It still seems far for me (coming from the south end of the region) but with the way the region is shaped it is hard to find a good compromise. Nobody wants to have to drive far and everyone wants a chance to host, but with a region that stretches so far south to north someone is going to be unhappy no matter what.

Collins lives to see another day and will have at least one more chance to defend their title. The Titans seem to love digging themselves a huge hole in regional tournament games and then storming back at the end. I wish they wouldn't do that, but it makes for great entertaining basketball. Coach Gaither has gotten his entire program to buy into playing tough defense, and that wins them a lot of games like it did tonight. If they could just get their offense going they would be in good shape.

Last year in softball Collins and Anderson both had to travel to SK to play the regional championship. I understand that we have hosts and gate/concessions money is involved but sometimes it makes a whole lot more sense to not make teams travel over an hour to play each other when they are 15-20 mins apart. With the way the 8th region is set up it creates a lot of long drives for teams in the post season. Making that trip 3 times in one week is not fun.

They had 9 freshman on the roster this year and started an 8th grader. They have a long way to go but they should continue to improve over the next couple of years.

They are decent. They have talent but are young. They have a few shooters that can get hot from outside, but not too much of an inside game. Their athleticism is one of their biggest strengths. They've beaten Walton-Verona, Trimble County, and Shelby County twice, so they have some good regional wins. SK probably won't have too much trouble with them though.

First title for Anderson in 7 years I believe. Also, according to Mickey Patterson AC was 19-22 on free throws in the 4th quarter.

Henry County will always be my favorite. The 8th region tournament is one of the best in the state no matter how good the teams are because of it. 50+ years of hosting means a lot of people have made a lot of memories in that gym.

This wasn't a huge surprise really. Shelby had won the first meeting on their home floor in OT after Collins blew a lead late in regulation and then the Lady Titans won in double OT on their home floor. These were two evenly matched teams and they played 3 really close games throughout the season.

Final The Titans held the Rockets to just 3 points in the 4th quarter to pull out the win. They will face host Anderson County for the 30th District championship Friday night.

The 30th district isn't as strong as it has been but it makes for some exciting games!
