Proud of my son, Kyle Kinmon and his teammates. Three of these seniors had to start as sophomores when a lot of kids left the program. They struggled through a 4 win season that year. They continued to work hard and were rewarded with an 18 win season and an appearance in the regional tournament. Proud of all of you!

Walton has a lot to be proud of. They've come a long way in two short seasons. Lots to look forward to, also, with some talented youngsters coming up.

 

You could really tell who the coaches' kids were tonight - Kinmon, Clinkenbeard, and Sullivan were tough....but Anderson was just the better team.

 

Kudos to the Harper kid....heard he was sick, but he played and played well! Seemed to always make the big play when Anderson would start to struggle.

It looks like it's the 29th vs. the 30th in the semis.

Does Anderson have a legit shot at knocking off Oldham Co?

 

I understand the "anything can happen" but like how do they match up against each other.

Anderson beat south oldham by nearly 30 earlier in the season and kept it tight against Mercer at their place too! I would say they have a good shot at besting oldham. Can't wait to see

Congrats to Anderson County. They played hard and with the way they hit the 3, they were going to be tough to beat.

 

But jumping in on what sportmaniac brought up, I'd like to give a huge shout out to the Walton Verona players and especially their Seniors. Their career could be summarized many ways. On of the more valuable ways is to describe them as the kids that didn't quit or run away when things got very hard. They just kept working. For three years. The result? They turned their ship around. And in doing so, they leave their example of passion, hard work, selflessness and refusing to quit on the program. They may not have ever enjoyed the accolades of winning a regional tournament, but the seeds they have sown into the program can be very much appreciated by the Walton Verona community. They are good seeds that will continue to sprout into success as future Bearcats follow their example. Great work young men. Thank you Matt, Kyle, Elliott, Chance, Austin and Chance.

Congrats to the WV seniors on a great season and making it back to the regional tournament. The WV boys program was set to make a serious run starting 3 years ago at a lot of All A, district, & regional titles. Unfortunately a run of transfers occurred instead and set the program back. Last years seniors & this years seniors need to given a tremendous amount of credit sticking with the program. As mentioned above they took this team from 4 wins, to 14 to 18 and left the talented classes behind them a blueprint for continued success.

 

These kids enjoyed a lot of success as youngsters, it was hard seeing all their teammates/friends leave, going from hardly ever losing to a 4 win season and all the ridicule that goes along with a season like that. I've had the pleasure of watching these kids grow up and coaching some...they are tremendous young men on and off the court.

Anderson missed a TON of free throws in the 4th quarter to let WV hang around and cut the lead to 7. Us AC fans were biting our nails there for a while. Game got a little chippy late, but lot of emotions on the floor out there, no one wanting their season to end.

 

Yes, AC has a chance to beat Oldham, but I believe they will need to play a little better than they did last night to do so, what with all the missed free throws and 2-3 missed layups late in the game that could have been critical. IF, and I say IF they were to get by OC, whoever they would have waiting in the championship, be it Collins or South Oldham, they have beaten both. And don't think that that isn't in the back of their minds. OC beat Anderson fairly handily earlier in the season, but they also got AC on one of their "down" nights, AC being like a roller coaster most of the season, up and down, really inconsistent. With that said, they have played pretty well now over a stretch of 5 games, beating SK, Spencer, Collins and WV...with a clinker thrown in there against Franklin County last game of the regular season, which unfortunately they have shown this season they are prone to do. Hopefully though with 3 big region wins in a row and getting to the region semi's, they can keep riding the wave and get another big win Friday night, they are very capable of doing so.

Hey, I stopped by the booth last night to say "hi" before the WV-AC game, but you were locked up tight and looked busy so I didn't hang around. I should be back Monday night though. Make sure to open up and meet when you see the really big, really good looking guy wearing a gray BGP hoodie walk up to the booth.:thumb:
