The first year they did pretty much have Shelby's team from the year before, but after that it was just the west side of the county at Collins. After the first year I don't know of any players that switched from SC to Collins, however, there were some that transferred back to SC (Manica, for example). No one on the championship team went to Shelby County, they were the first 4 year class to go through Collins. Some people got all bent out of shape over the split at the time, but I think now that SC has bounced back most have gotten over it. Hopefully both schools can have consistent success from now on.

Yep, lost a heart-breaker at Franklin Simpson 20-15. It was a great defensive battle that I still think Collins probably should've won. There was no shortage of controversy in it either. That team was no where near as skilled offensively as the title team (those seniors were sophomores) but they may have actually had a slightly better defense that year. That was also the year that Collins played no home games as their field had to be repaired.

They were a play away from the finals in their second year as well.

I was just looking at SK's schedule and noticed that nearly all of their games are scheduled to be away. Any reason why?

Final After a very slow start, Collins outscored Franklin County 24-5 in the 3rd quarter to take command and bounce back from two straight road losses. Kyle Perdue, Dominique Turner, and Jalen Stone each had 9 points to lead the Titans. Collins will travel to Shelby County Friday night.

Collins wants to pass more than they run, but I think they ended up with more rushing yards than passing this season. Franklin County passes the ball a lot.

Their army uniforms? Collins usually wears a different uniform one game a year to honor service men and women.

That explains a lot for Shelby. I didn't think about the football players just returning at first.

Final Sean Pigman gets the win in his first game as head coach of the Lady Titans. This one was close through 3 before Collins stretched their lead to as much as 17 in the 4th. Zantasha King led all scorers with 14. Hannah Renfro and Olivia Federle both had 12.

Yikes. I know Mercer County is good, but it could be a rough season for the Rockets.

Final The defending 8th Region Champs jumped out to a 20-5 lead after the 1st quarter and cruised to a big win to open the 2015-16 season. The Titans are 5-1 in season openers, with all 6 games coming against Gallatin County. Collins played a lot of guys and as a result the scoring was very balanced, with 6 in double figures led by Grant Clarkson with 14. The Titans travel to Lexington Christian Thursday night before playing at Bullitt East on Friday.

That would be great for the fans. Two years ago when Collins was at Owensboro they moved the start time up to late afternoon and it turned out to be great sunny weather with an amazing crowd and atmosphere. I like the idea of moving up start times, especially when travel for teams and fans is usually lengthy during this round and the weather can get pretty cold. However, I can't blame a host for still wanting to play a night game.

They don't have the talent of the Collins team from 2 years ago, but fortunately for everyone 4A isn't as strong as it was 2 years ago. Shelby still has a very solid team and is not lacking talent. I haven't seen South Warren play but it seems like their defense will make it very tough on the Rockets.

I'm glad to see Central Hardin make it this far, but Male wins big in this one.

Nice to see Fern Creek in the semifinals. Congrats to them.

Also, what a turn around from a 3-8 season last year.

Apparently this is the first regional title for the Rockets since 1993.
