After the last two seasons, I will take results over hype. Could they end up having a great year, of course, and I hope they do, but lets wait until they start winning meaningful games before talking about district/regional championships. There is no need to set unrealistic expectations for a team that had 4 running clocks put on them last year. I think Collins will definitely be improved, just like they were last year from the year before, but they still have a ways to climb to get where they want to be. Like I said, I still think they are a year away from really competing again. Hopefully they arrive a year early.

I was shocked to hear today's games were canceled after they played in much worse conditions on Thursday and Friday. Collins played late games both nights in the freezing cold so I'm sure they would've loved to play in the sun today. Either way they had a good showing beating Christian County and Station Camp, TN and tying Butler.

East Carter is undefeated at 9-0. They have played a weak schedule so far, but Montana Fouts' line is still incredible (and doesn't include the last 2 games): 30 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 79 K She has struck out 79 of 95 batters!

Collins had about 16 seniors, with most of them being lineman. They will return basically all their skill players and their top tackler Nick Eades. The upcoming junior class is their strongest class, so they are probably still a year away from really competing. With their schedule, a 4-6 or 5-5 regular season is a reasonable expectation.

Two ranked teams among many more to come for the Lady Titans. So far their only losses are to #2 Scott County, #13 Mercy, and #19 Meade County. All 3 of those games were close. One thing is for sure, Collins will be well prepared for postseason play with at least 11 ranked opponents remaining on their schedule.

That's what makes South so hard to stop. They can drive and shoot. That doesn't mean they will against Owensboro Catholic but the combination of being able to spread the floor and drive to the basket and knock down 3s makes them tough to beat.

I like South in this one as well. Now that they've been there a few times they'll come in knowing what it takes to win at state. As long as they don't have a really bad shooting night I think they'll win.

I saw that on twitter. Horse Cave beat Burkesville 53-9. Ouch.

Collins scrimmaged at Assumption tonight. Not sure of any type of results or if score was kept.

Yikes. I though South would win comfortably, but not by this much. 3 out of 4 years going to Rupp is certainly impressive, especially since I'm pretty sure 4 years ago was their first ever trip to Rupp. Now I'd like to see them win one for the 8th. They got a pretty favorable draw but the 8th Region hasn't won a game at state since 2012.

Final Anderson County will face South Oldham tomorrow night in the championship.

Oldham County has blown a 12 point lead but still hangs on 38-35 going into the 4th.

Jacob Feltner's 16 points in a row in the 3rd quarter was simply amazing. He hit 5 3-pointers, including a 4 point play to keep the Titans in it. Not to mention he is only a sophomore and this was only his second game back after being out for a month with an injury. He can really shoot the ball and should be fun to watch the next couple of years.

Final The 8th Region will have a new champion. Collins gave great effort and nearly pulled off the big upset. South played a really good game too, both teams and their fans should be proud of a great basketball game. Collins will certainly miss their seniors but with Feltner and Turner coming back next year, the Titans will be making noise in Henry County next March.
