Anderson County will face South Oldham tomorrow night in the championship.

AC beat south by 29, last meeting. Got a feeling this one may not go quite like that one. Still like Anderson's chances!

I am sure everyone had South v Anderson in their 8th region tournament pools.

On paper it sure was. Oldham was one of the consensus top 3 all year. Everyone lauded their draw as they were opposite Owen Co (and South), they supposedly had the "easy" path to the regional final.

 

South Oldham over Owen wasn't really an upset...this one was.

Penny had 33 for Anderson; 19 of them in the 4th quarter.

I just felt that it was a different Anderson team. They have momentum going in from the District Championship.

On a side note I hope they do something about the PA system a new mic or something it was horrible. It sounded like the guy was pounding the mic on his leg, it was shorting out terrible.

Anderson guy here...and yes I think you have to consider it an upset, though it is no surprise to this guy that they beat OC as I knew they had the ability to do it. But, given the fact that OC beat AC rather handily earlier in the season, had the better record coupled with a couple of bad loses for AC, and AC has been wildly inconsistent and with their youth there was a question if they could stand up and push through when the lights were the brightest...yes most would consider this an upset.

 

I said very early on in an AC thread back in the fall that AC was talented, but probably a year away and they would win a couple of games no one thought they would, and they would lose a couple that they just shouldn't. It has played out exactly like that. When the 8th region draw came out, I saw them playing in the finals as a very distinct possibility, and when Owen got beat, the sky was the limit. Will they win tonight? Don't know, but they are MORE than capable of it. Will it be similar to the 29 point blowout they laid down on South a few weeks ago? Very doubtful, but the brass ring is there for the taking.

 

And...mark my words and you heard it here first...AC is at the beginning of what I think will be a very good 3 year run (including this year) and not only have the chance to win region this year now, but will be the odds on favorite next year and I think the year after as well. Lights are shining bright in Lawrenceburg!
