Yes, NDA plays Sacred Heart. Haven't heard if Assumption won but if I were the betting kind, I would say they did. Speaks volumes for the level of play in our state. Not to mention the most recent national rankings that have Mercy and Assumption at 1 & 2, respectively.

I always appreciate when parents support their teams on this site but find it amusing when parents ignore the obvious. Mercy, Assumption, Sacred Heart and even NDA are in a different league than the rest. The gap is closing, but your teams don't stand a chance against Mercy. Sorry but facts are facts and I stand behind my choice...Go Jags!

I totally agree. I was comparing that Assumption team to the recent years past Assumption teams. I meant "down" as a relative term. Assumption can only be compared to Assumption. Couple that with NDA beating them (1st time since 1994) at the LIVT, last year was truly NDA's best shot. However, between the parents completely disrupting the season (including the physical assault by a father on one of the coaches the week before state) and the team's "stars" just flat out refusing to play, NDA missed it's only chance for years. They had the best draw, Assumption and Mercy played am epic semi final (should have been the final but...blind draw...) and NDA should have at least been competitive in the final. I meant no disrespect to Assumption at all. Best team and coach won

Re the "hillbilly" play....Pretty sure that is not a courtesy only in NKY soccer. Pretty common practice to get the ball out of bounds to stop play then return the ball to the team who had possession.

My thoughts are three--- 1. NDA should be kicking themselves even more for not taking care of business last year. They had a cake walk into the final and played a "down" Assumption team in the final. The "stars" mailed it in and the showing was embarrassing. 2. The blind draw sucks and is completely unfair to the deserving teams. Any team coming out of Region 9 should not play the Assumption/Sacred Heart region in the first round. Complete joke. 3. I am glad that Region 7 and 9 are opposite Mercy. That gives my pick an easy ride to the final. They will not 'mail it in' that much I am sure of. Go Jags!

Even when she comes back A. Bush will not be hitting. She will be setting a 5/1. Good news is that gives Ryle back a hitter in H. Bush but it won't be enough, in my opinion. A. Bush had a great run being a four year starter and star for Ryle but she won't change the tide much from the setting position. I say this mainly because I believe H. Bush is the better setter of the two so Ryle actually takes a step (albeit slight) backwards when H. bush quit setting but also a step forward because H. Bush gets to hit. Not sure if this makes sense.

Did Wagner play QB the whole game? I read in the paper they had two QB's, if the offense was bad, why not change the QB? I was not at the game and have never been to a game in the past ten years.

By Ryle winning. That St. Henry didn't win in 4 A. Bush did not play. Chase did. Saw St. Henry at LIVT thought they would win.

I'm a little shocked by this result.

When was the last time NDA last to a "mismatched" team. Last loss to any local NKy team was P4P match vs St. Henry when Bessler and Fortner were seniors. Hardly call that a mismatch. Choose your words carefully.

Why don't you state what you KNOW? Why do you guys come on here and say things like players quit and players didn't come out for the team and then leave it up to us to guess as to why. Tell us the FACTS or don't state it at all. Makes no sense... I believe parents are involved. They always are. Maybe they don't "encourage" the player to quit, but the constant complaining about the coach or about their kid's (lack of) playing time, talking on the phone about it, texting about it, talking to their spouse/partner about it. It leads kids to make the decision to just quit. It makes the kid miserable. Sure, blame the coach. I mean he interacts with their daughter about 10 hours a week. The parents have them all other hours outside of school. But obviously those ten hours the coach has is completely altering little Suzy's existence. NO. ITS. NOT. The parents are. Because those ten hours get turned into 24 hours with the insanity of the obsessive parents who can't just let it go. All of you parents need to do a check of your conscience and see how YOU have negatively impacted this season. It's easy to point fingers but you need to start with the person in the mirror. Unless this coach has done something illegal or against his contract please give it up. He's just a guy who wanted to coach soccer. It's basically a voluntary position. HHS wasn't going to "win state" anyway, hell can you even win region? (I honestly know nothing about HHS except about their football and volleyball teams). My point is, at the end of the day this is high school athletics and shouldn't be all this drama. Take a step back, let your girl have HER season and stay out of it. Honestly, if she could say this to you herself, she would. Quit talking about it, texting about it, emailing about it, going to secret meetings about it and be a positive leader in the stands. Your daughter will thank you for it when she's older. I'm out....I thought NDA volleyball was nuts but you people are almost just as bad. Shame on all of you.

I don't know of the 'official' KHSAA bylaw that was referenced above, I only know what I have seen happen over the last few years. NDA just played Beechwood and Holmes, both district opponents, and both matches were best 2/3. Right now it appears that NDA will play Holy Cross (also district) best of 3/5. The other district team is Covington Latin and NDA doesn't play them at all. It appears the district matches are up to the coaches to decide format. Or maybe the AD's decide this? I know that once the teams get to the District Tournament, Regional Tournament and State Tournament it is mandatory that all matches are best 3/5.

A few years ago the KHSAA decided to get with the rest of the country and allow matches that are the best 3/5 but they left this up to the participating schools. So if the two schools agree, the matches will either be best 2/3 or best 3/5. I know at NDA, for example, they play the Ohio schools and Louisville schools, as well as locally, St. Henry and Ryle in the 3/5 format. However, when playing district matches (Holmes, Beechwood, Holy Cross, Cov Latin) they will play 2/3. Some conferences matches for NDA are 2/3 and some are 3/5, I think it depends on what the coaches decide when scheduling. So either way 2/3 or 3/5 is approved by the KHSAA as a complete match.

Once all the 'layers' are peeled back, this is, indeed about playing time. The other complaints are all smoke and mirrors with no credibility. A parent's approval or disapproval of their kid's coach is, 99% of the time, directly correlated with how much their kid plays. That's just the nature of youth sports now a days. The fact that his daughters are involved in the program only make his situation worse. He will NEVER be supported, his kid will never be respected or congratulated for anything she rightfully earns and her whole career will be tainted with him coaching. He should just resign right now...not for the good of the program (he is probably more than qualified to coach a middle of the road high school team) but for the good of his sanity and his daughter's. It's just not worth it.

All sports can be exhausting when you are dealing with selfish players and parents who interfere bc their kid isn't playing enough. I don't know anything about HHS or soccer but I will GUARANTEE you hit the nail on the head. Not playing the powerful parents' kid has been the demise of more than one coach. You can find it on almost every forum on BGP (sadly more than one example). In NKY, most notably the resignation of the entire NDA Volleyball coaching staff last season. The staff Included the varsity coach (alum, 8 years on staff, multiple regional championships, marquee win over perennial power Assumption, state runner up), varsity assistant (alum and decorated D1 athlete), JV Head (alum, 25 year coaching veteran, undefeated vs NKY teams, 2 time JV State Champs, 1 time JV State Runner Up, multiple marquee wins over both Cincy and Louisville schools including Assumption), JV Asst (alum, 8 years with the program) and Frosh Head Coach (10 year coaching veteran, 3 years varsity experience, two top 10 National finishes with NKYVC and now VARSITY head coach at Seton HS). The senior parents at NDA didn't agree with the playing time the senior athletes were getting. The emails, phone calls, behavior in the stands was an embarrassment to the entire NDA community. The climax being when a father assaulted two of the female coaches, AD and principal basically looked the other way. Unless the HHS administration puts their foot down NOW and does so firmly, this is a losing situation.

KHSAA reports: NDA 2-0 Gold Playoff St. Henry 1-1 Silver Playoff Ryle 0-2 Bronze Playoff NCC 0-2 Bronze Playoff Good job to the NDA Senior Pandas and JV Team for filling in for the Juniors who missed last night due to retreat. Secured a spot on Gold! I haven't heard about any other teams except that A Bush and Barber did not play for Ryle. Anyone have news?

"Push It...." Ahhhhh....I get it....supposed to be "BULLS***" Funny...heard that several times last night but no idea what it meant. I thought they were telling the girls to "push harder" or something. Last night was a great atmosphere at NDA. Both teams played hard, both teams had student sections, it was grade school night so there were a ton of little girls in attendance and I am sure they loved the "Big Game" feel. Of course, NDA won handedly and Highlands did not which is really why the facebook mom was mad, it HHS had beaten Brossart this would be a non issue. Unless, of course, said FB Mom's princess didn't get to play enough but then her phone call would have been to HHS AD instead of BB.

These seem somewhat reasonable but a bit ridiculous that these came as a result of one parent complaint. Good thing that Highlands mom that facebook ranted was not at the Beechwood/NDA game last night. I mean heaven forbid that Beechwood has about 30 BOYS in attendance, dressed in ominous BLACK clothes (it really hurt the Panda Posse's feelings as the theme was White Out for the girls), and some even had sports bras on . Then the cheering...OMG...they actually cheered for Beechwood when the girls did something good AND against NDA when they made a mistake. I think I even heard "We like Buck, We like Buck..." s/o to NDA Coach Buck McCourt. And then, to top it off, they chanted "We can't hear you..." to the Panda Posse who were outnumbered in all aspects of fan cheering. I am calling Beechwood as soon as I get finished typing this...Oh and I am logging on to my non existent facebook account to call out high school boys for supporting their classmates and showing some great school pride and spirit. How dare they? >>
