Great match to watch as Assumption tops the Pandas. Passing off serve receive has been an issue all season and it was again tonight. Season isn't over and this wasn't a "bad" loss. Need to learn from it and get better. Assumption is hard to beat, let alone at home with the pomp and circumstance of senior night. Hats off to Coach Kordes and staff, once again! Assumption gets the sweep as they win all three levels. NDA JV has had Assumption on the ropes two times this season but can't finish that third game. Frosh Pandas fought hard all season but, overall, were pretty disappointing this season. **should be noted the four best freshmen play significant roles on JV. If they played freshmen, I think our results would've been different. Either way their season ends on a 4 match (I think) losing streak.

Yup, I like to watch the softball and basketball Pandas as well so I do know your daughter. I also know, from reading on BGP, what she endured at Ryle. Their loss is certainly our gain. While I do follow NDA softball and bball, I just don't know as much about those sports to post much that makes sense. The softball families at NDA are truly some Of the best people to be around. As an outsider sitting In the stands- truly a pleasure, so much positive. And the bball Pandas seem to be Coming around as well. The loss of Cheryl and then Nicole hit us in the gut but Wyatt is such a hard worker and has the best intentions, nothing but the best for him. I just hope he sticks around to build some continuity. Also love the soccer Pandas. New coach seems to be doing as well as Buck (new volleyball coach). I have been fortunate enough to live in the area for my whole life and really enjoy spending time watching the Pandas compete. Maybe that makes me a nerd, I'm not sure. I just know I catch as many games as I can. And it is what I enjoy. I didn't see as many softball games last year as I did in the season before and I only started following the softball Pandas a few years ago so my knowledge is limited to say the least. I depend on Lawnboy to keep me up to date. With my schedule, Spring is harder for me to get to games. I did make it to the Regional final and that was one exciting game. I also happened upon a JV Softball Tournament, out in Hebron of all places, last year and saw some great (and I mean dominating) play from our JV team. However, I am passionate about NDA vball and I know NDA volleyball inside and out. Been following them since the first unsanctioned state championship in 1979. Never seen anything like what I saw last season. You and I seem to disagree on some things and that's ok. Nothing like a little spirited debate to keep the juices flowing. I actually have a middle schooler who is not a half bad volleyballer who hopes to play for NDA some day. Maybe when I become one of the parents, I will have a different perspective. For now, my perspective is from devoted booster looking in. I had boys compete at CCH and never saw anything like what I have witnessed at NDA from players, parents, and administration. NDA could learn a thing or two from the folks at CCH. They aren't perfect by any means but they seem to do a better job at handling "situations" than we do at NDA. But, seriously, I am done now. Lol. I actually have to work and make a living to afford the private school tuitions, college, etc etc. Good luck to your daughter and the bball and softball pandas! I have explained my criticism of volleymom. Please read thru the thread. Why the reminders about last season--hoping this group of parents doesn't repeat the past and mess this season up like they did last season. If you don't like it, don't read my posts. I will probably reference the 2013 team for many years to come, lest we forget what happens when selfishness, bullies and egos try to control a team. Good luck tonight Pandas...can't be there. Lol. Ummm I said "I can think of..." Obviously my opinion. There was more than one "star" and yes they, and their parents, have moved on. Thank god. As I have stated numerous times in many threads, love this year's Pandas. They are a TEAM we can all be proud of. Very much enjoy watching them play.

Ahhhh a CCH fan. I am too. Anyone who PM'd me on that issue were given what I know. I was told my info in confidence and those I shared it with promised not to share on BGP. I haven't even checked that thread to see if they honored it. Maybe they aren't "writing it down" maybe they are. I don't know. You're not sending a private email Or text message, you are writing in a public forum on the Internet for all the world to see. Why would one not want their info to be as accurate as possible?

To clarify, the ranking was not 'made up'. NDA is currently #14 on PrepVolleyball.com. Great ranking for them when the volleyball Community didn't expect much. What is potentially ''made up' is the claim of 'highest ranking ever'. Just not sure if that is a fact or not a fact. I haven't and won't dig thru the pages of rankings on PrepVolleyball to find out because I really don't care that much about rankings. My post, volleymom, was not to discourage you from posting, it was to simply point out that unless you know for a fact something to be 100% true (ie "highest ranking ever") either don't post it or post a disclaimer.

I am very pleased with the Pandas. They are playing hard, competing and most importantly and great to see...no egos from the 'stars', true team effort. Different people stepping up to make a great play and that is what makes a winning team. These girls are a joy to watch as the season has progressed, they have composed themselves into a force and not because one player is a 'star' but because they are team with great chemistry.

Nothing bothers me more than people posting on here when they don't know the facts or know for certain their posts to be true. In her first post, volleymom doesn't say she 'heard' she says the ranking like it's a fact. Please reread her first post. Unless 'volleymom' has done the research on PrepVolleyball.com to make sure that #14 is the highest ranking ever then she should clarify with a statement such as, "I have not done the research but I heard from a NDA volleyball parent that #14 is the highest ranking ever." or something similar. Then the readers of her post, know that volleymom isn't stating fact, she is spreading gossip that she heard around the water cooler. For me, I have not done any research so I have no idea if it is the highest ranking or not. My point is not to disparage the work the 2014 Pandas have put together because I am very very proud of them, instead, I want to make sure that all of the awesome NDA teams that came before them in the over 35 year tradition (11 years of PV.com rankings) are given their proper due. Last season all I heard was "this is the best team to ever play at NDA" and "(insert overrated player's name here) is the BEST player to ever play at NDA" and it was so not true. I can think of at least 5 teams from the 80's and 90's who were better than last year's team and at least 10 players who were better than the supposed 'stars' of last year's team. Bluedad, you are a Mercy fan from what I can tell, so I am sure you are very proud of your Mercy team but I also hope that you don't lose sight of, in the recent history, the greatness of past Mercy teams. Even in the 80's Mercy was a powerhouse, the first to come out of Lousville, winning State in 1985 and 1986, the only two years in the 80's that the Pandas did not win. Parents are funny in that they only know what they know and don't take the time to look more deeply into a school's tradition than what they know of their daughter's four years. If I hadn't questioned volleymom on her source, all the readers of this thread would have taken it as fact what she posted about the rankings. All I am asking for is either a disclaimer or for research to be done. That may be asking too much of the parents who post on this board, only worried about Princess and could care less about the teams/players that came before.

NDA dominated both JV and varsity. Controlled every aspect of the match. The NDA freshmen lost but the four best NDA freshmen all play key roles (starters)on JV. St. Henry had a couple play Frosh and JV. The Panda Posse showed up in force. I have been to every Playing for a Purpose match and this was NDA's biggest, loudest, and best cheering section yet. They seemed to have a great time. It was a great night to be a Panda fan.

NDA destroyed St. Henry in every aspect of the match on the JV and Varsity level. St. Henry Freshmen won in three.

NDA routinely dominates NKy teams. I think 2017vbfan is referring to be competitive state wide and across the river. Winning the district, conference and Regional is standard and expected at NDA. NDA finished 2nd in 2012 at the Asics Challenge so this team is holding their own when compared to teams of the past.

The best thing about the back row is they are bad a** on defense. With Hentz, Colvin and S. Saelinger back there balls rarely drop without at least being touched. From what I have seen they side out better off defensive transition than they do off the first touch in serve receive. The digs go closet to target and Talkers feeds Thelen and Salkowski in the middle.

This will never happen because 1. KHSAA views volleyball as a second tier sport in the fall behind football, boys' soccer and girls' soccer. 2. There simply aren't enough teams to support this set up, let alone quality teams. 3. This would mean spreading the state tourney over two weekends or include week night games. Last year was the first year the KHSAA listened to the years of complaints and let the final be a stand alone event on Sunday. For years, the teams played one match on Friday and the quarters, semis and finals all on Saturday. Emotionally and physically exhausting. 4. Show me the money....and there is none . I don't know for sure but I would venture to say the KHSAA loses money on the state tournament.

NDA already plays Assumption, Sacred Heart and Mercy (I think you got auto corrected to "Mercher Academy" above). The other schools, I believe, are in Class A and would not be worth the drive for NDA. NDA's mostly JV team beat Presentation at the LIVT this year. The two seniors on varsity played with the JV team because all of the juniors could not be there on Friday, beat Presentation. The private/public thing doesn't work in volleyball. Let's face it, there is not much of a "upper middle class" in terms of volleyball. You have the elite 4 and then a pretty big drop off to everyone else. And in the Elite 4, are two teams routinely in the top 5 in the country. The blind draw has to go. At least seed the top 4 and then blind draw the rest.

I have laid off this thread because I didn't have facts. I have gathered many. Talked to many. I have the FACTS on this "grant". Karma is a real thing as I think the football Colonels are finding out...."grant" gets awarded, football Colonels get hammered on the field in two very highly publicized games, embarrassing losses. I am mainly a volleyball/soccer follower and, usually, a big fan of CCH but this whole thing doesn't pass the smell test. CCH gets their "grant" and lose in so many other ways...even the untouchable Crazies are being criticized. Cheaters never win. I find it very sad. I hope the karma bus moves on.

Until a NKy team beats them, NDA is #1. I had some reservations this year but with the improvement in Abby Thelen and Madison Salkowski and smart set distribution by Hannah Talkers, no one in NKY touches them. Too bad Ashley Bush won't be hitting against them. Ryle had a good chance this year but, unfortunately, injuries happen. This year's NDA team is fun to watch. No egos, no one thinks they are better than anyone else, they play hard and compete, parents are behaving, team first attitude. They had none of this last year. Weakness is serve receive...I said it another thread, not sure how you have a team full of DS/Liberos and the first touch is so bad. Hopefully that gets some focus these last few weeks.

NDA gets smoked by Mother McAuley in the final. For the life of me, I can't figure out how one can have a literal team full of DS's and serve receive average can't be higher than 1.8. If NDA can't go through Thelen and Salkowski in the middle, they can be beat. This is one of the weakest serve receive teams in recent NDA history. Either way, surprising run for the young Pandas. As always, the future is bright.
