What say ye, NKYVB? Your prediction of a tight match not even close. St. Henry wins with what appears to be pretty easily (25-19,25-18,25-19). To be fair, I had Cooper winning as well but only based on personnel. Maybe the Crusaders will surprise the 9th Region.

I can't speak to anything that has happened at CC ever in the history of CC, BUT I know the coach from last year also had major problems on her club team that she coached this past season. Parents disrespecting her, players disrespecting her and other players, parents disrespecting players. It was ugly. The club handled it with a parent meeting and a separate player meeting and things got better but it was pretty bad before the directors stepped in. She was a young coach and a very good one as far as X's and O's but needed to mature a bit. CC new coach...I know nothing about her....but she may have her hands full if she is a 'disciplinarian' simply because she is following in the footsteps of a coach who was not. Players tend to not like change. Good luck to CC. They have had great success the past couple seasons, great to see!

You heard a lot that was incorrect. According to NDA stats, looks like sets were spread around. These pandas are young and it was a loud, aggressive crowd. I was impressed with the composure of the freshman setter, Hentz, Thelen, Colvin and Salkowski. The other hitters had great opportunity to score but didn't get it done. Good news is the chances were created by the set selection. Let us not forget that MND beat NDA at home last season. From that team they lost one offensive contributor. The core offensive weapons, Libero and setter are all veterans and very good. Young pandas showed some heart. I was encouraged.

Actually, I must be wrong. NDA's volleyball website makes it sound like they got left out. This is a surprise with Ryle and Henry Clay both ranked ahead of them. Seems a bit suspicious. I do think Ryle will give NDA a run for their money this year but they are #87 so that means, NDA is at least 14 spots below them in John Tawa's mind. Seems a bit weird to me.

I bet with the coaching changes at NDA, John Tawa at Prep, didn't communicate with the new staff. Rankings are for parents, but the players enjoy Tawa's site as well.

NDA had more than three new players in the lineup: Only Salkowski, Hentz and Thelen played any significant time last year. Knaley, Draud, Von Handorf, Talkers and H. Colvin all new to Varsity play. Von Handorf saw a little action last year but nothing significant and not as libero. New Setter, New Libero and New OH....I think they had every reason to be a bit nervous. The bigger worry continues to be who else besides Hentz can terminate for this team. I am not a coach but I don't understand why Thelen and Salkowski aren't swinging on the outside or opposite out of serve receive? They both hit with power and the connection with Talkers in the middle is just not there yet. Hentz was their only side out power. The two ball that Hentz hits, makes the crowd oooh and ahhh but will be easily defended by the Mercy's and Assumption's of the world. It works against teams with less height and less experience but not against the big boys. Anyway, just my two cents. I hope Buck starts to think outside the box a bit on his serve receive patterns and plays. Creativity in coaching will get this team more wins as they are not going to over power anyone.

That is one thing about BGP that bothers me, people's sheer ignorance of the facts, players and talent on teams and they vote for their kid's team...of course, most of the posters are parents so shouldn't be a surprise... Ryle will have a great year. I would imagine it would not be as strong as last year (they had a record breaking season last year) but they will still do well. If the Bush sisters do what they can do, Chase Barber stays healthy and the Butler sisters show up in the middle, they can beat NDA. They lack ball control beside Chase and NDA should be a good serving team so that may be Ryle's Achilles Heel again this year. However, NDA lacks termination power so I think it will be a good match up. As for St. Henry, they should be in the mix but I believe behind NDA and Ryle. They just don't have enough kids playing high level club anymore. I am not sure why or what has changed at St. Henry but they have, as a school, lost interest in club volleyball.

Mercy vs NDA scrimmage tonight at NDA. Heard it was UGLY for the pandas. And to wkrp, you are new to the board....welcome. I am an avid volleyball fan and love the pandas but I am also a realist. Mercy, Assumptiom and even Sacred Heary beat NDA this year. They are all loaded. Besides Hentz, NDA has no offensive threats. I wish it was different but it's just the facts.

Villa being ranked that high is a mistake. Not sure how a mistake like that is made...

Ryle and Simon Kenton lost to Tate's Creek and Dunbar in the Quarterfinals. Dunbar beat Tate's Creek in the finals.

Mercy wins state this year. If not them, Assumption. Sorry, that's just the truth of it.

I guess I should have said Top 4 in their positions in their class. I am well aware of the Class of 2018 and who plays where and what level club, etc. There is talent outside of the NDA group but only one, maybe two, per school. And yes, some of the other freshman will see significant time at the varsity level because of the high school they go to. At NDA, waiting your turn is something the girls are used to. The top 4 Frosh at NDA would play varsity at any other school in the Region. Always exciting when the new group of kids try out and start high school. Even more exciting to see where they end up in 4 years. Good luck to all!

Never from what I can remember. Stephenson kid is the daughter of the JV coach who was assaulted last year by parent, Jeff Klare. She has since resigned. Lainey is a setter/OH. Sears kid is from Ohio. Played club at NKYVC with Stephenson and the two other FROSH on the JV roster. Julia is a MH/Opp Overall, a weak freshman class for NDA but definately have the top 4 in the area, in those girls playing JV and varsity. Stephenson and Sears benefit from a weak sophomore class ahead of them. Probably many good freshman came before them who had to wait a little longer into their careers to put on that varsity jersey simply because the older girls were better. Not taking anything away from those two as I'm sure they earned it and are filling a need. However, it is a whole new staff so maybe this is their philosophy.

Yes. Awesome kids. All DS/Liberos. All quick, energetic and team players. They kill it in the classroom too.

Not sure what basketball coach this is referring to but Wyatt Foust did not resign. Just to be sure there isn't any confusion.

NDA Volleyball Coach was harassed and physically assaulted in November by a father. It was not just one incident, this father's behavior escalated over the course of the season (emails, talking in the stands, phone calls and texts riling up other parents, screaming and gesturing from the stands and the eventual assault). NDA AD and Principal were aware and did nothing until the actual criminal event occurred. Up to then the other incidents were ignored. Only after the assault did they ban him. This guy not only abused the coaches but also the players that played more than his daughter. The coach pressed charges and won the criminal case in February. Most coaches and refs are not aware that Kentucky statutes do protect all persons from harassment - http://www.lrc.ky.gov/Statutes/statute.aspx?id=19926. It takes more coaches and refs to stand up to these idiots. I guarantee the father referenced above will think twice before ever speaking to a coach the way he did and definitely won't put his hands on one again. I believe the coach in question is still considering a civil case against him and some others as well. This man's only complaint was playing time. For the record, NDA does hold parent meetings before each season. These things are all addressed. I don't think a Code of Conduct is signed but for some people none of that matters. This guy thought he was above the law and could do whatever he wanted. It took the coach standing up to him to show him he was wrong.

C'mon Clyde...even you have to see these cross the line. I wasn't there but you were and you aren't denying they were said only asking why they 'crossed the line'? How come the Crazies are held to very high standards and are considered entertaining, supportive but, above all, classy around the state. Why are the athletes themselves not held to the same standard at CCH? I was thrilled when I read on twitter that CCH came from behind and won but reading this puts a blemish on it. I am not saying don't try to get in the pitcher's head....if that is within the rules then do it but to use gender 'slurs' (for lack of a better word) crossed the line. Please don't defend them anymore, it makes you look as immature as the boys.
