Breds still without NKU signee Keyaira Lankheit.

wow! Didn't see that coming!

Is CCHS better than I thought this year, or is NCC not playing as good as I thought they would be?

Injured?

NCC is way down this year. Still missing starting middle blocker but I don't see her return doing much for the Breds. They still lack in many other areas on the court. CCHS, from what i've seen, is hit or miss. They have great matches and not so great matches. Serve receive seems to be pretty weak. They rely a lot on setter Carson Gray, who is a clear leader on the court. I can see Scott winning region this year.

Ankle injury (Aug. 8th) the day before the Boone Co. scrimmage, she is expected back for the Breds next game on Thursday I believe.

Camels have won 2 of the last 3 meetings. :thumb:

Campbell is tough when they play like a team. I saw a lot of bad attitudes, rolling eyes at coach. Not a lot of control by coach , she lets players Ryun the show. I hope they fix that before tournament time.

It must be difficult for a coach from outside the area to come in and gain the respect of her players.

Really? Why do you think so?

"Campbell County 3, Newport Central Catholic 1:

The Thoroughbreds fell to 0-4 with a loss to the in-county rivals.

The Lady Camels won 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 27-25. Sophomore Rachel McDonald led the way with 19 kills and setter Mikah Freppon had 34 assists to go. Teammate Amanda Ruwe had 38 digs and five aces for NewCath.

NewCath takes on host Dayton on Thursday. Game time is 6:30 p.m."

I wouldn't say they are "way down", I would say they are young. Great match last night. They have a freshman setter running a 5-1 offense in Freppon, and their go to hitter is sophomore outside, McDonald. McDonald also runs the floor for NewCath on defense, she was wiping everyone's sweat off the floor. Great passer and a wicked serve. She is one of the best in the area. Libero is a junior, Ruwe. She had a nice game and has a good server as well. Freshman hitter, Breen, also plays. They also play defensive specialist, junior Kehoe - I believe is her name. Much of the game they have 2 freshman, a sophomore and a junior on the floor, and another junior playing defense. I guess I'm saying, give them a break and boost their confidence as opposed to always comparing to NDA who had 600 girls+ in the school. For a SMALL school, that's not bad and looks to be a bright future.

Campbell pulled it together and kept their composure enough to pull it out. Senior setter, Gray, is a nice player. Does anyone know if she's playing college anywhere? Comes from an athletic family. They have some work to do to win the region but they definitely have the tools. Good job Camels, keep working.

Yes, agree with all that, but to be fair NCC has lost to Beechwood the last 2 years in a row in the All-A and Beechwood isn't exactly a big school, and it's public no less. And there's also St. Henry. But for their size, NCC is very good vs most.
