Yes, NDA plays Sacred Heart. Haven't heard if Assumption won but if I were the betting kind, I would say they did.

 

Speaks volumes for the level of play in our state. Not to mention the most recent national rankings that have Mercy and Assumption at 1 & 2, respectively.

NDA gets smoked by Mother McAuley in the final. For the life of me, I can't figure out how one can have a literal team full of DS's and serve receive average can't be higher than 1.8.

 

If NDA can't go through Thelen and Salkowski in the middle, they can be beat. This is one of the weakest serve receive teams in recent NDA history.

 

Either way, surprising run for the young Pandas. As always, the future is bright.

I was able to watch the online streaming and you are right, NDA really struggles on serve receive. You can't run an offense without that first serve receive pass.

NDA seeded 8th comes in 2nd with a new lineup and new coaching staff. Much better than 2013. NDA was fatigued after 2 tough three setters and can play with MacCauley when fresh. Quit questioning the coach and just enjoy the fun!!!

I agree, S/R this year is weak - they have been struggling with the backrow rotation all season. They have the talent, it's just about putting in the right mix and sticking to it. As I have mentioned before, it's definately a learning/building year at NDA. Knowing and understanding what you have and how to use it, is going to be key if they want to keep pushing through this season.....

They are 20-4 with their only losses to top 10 Nationally Ranked teams. They are dominating NKY teams right now, go look at their recent scores. That hardly sounds like a rebuilding year.

The best thing about the back row is they are bad a** on defense. With Hentz, Colvin and S. Saelinger back there balls rarely drop without at least being touched. From what I have seen they side out better off defensive transition than they do off the first touch in serve receive. The digs go closet to target and Talkers feeds Thelen and Salkowski in the middle.

NDA routinely dominates NKy teams. I think 2017vbfan is referring to be competitive state wide and across the river. Winning the district, conference and Regional is standard and expected at NDA.

 

NDA finished 2nd in 2012 at the Asics Challenge so this team is holding their own when compared to teams of the past.
