I was right about the Eagles "tough night" against Mason Co. and I'm afraid it's only gonna get worse for them this week. I wish them well, hope they win....just don't think they will.

Another very solid defensive performance by the JV Jags. Finished the season 8-2.

The injured young Jag is our sophomore RB, Cordell-Armstrong. He will be sorely missed and I just hope he can recoup in time to enjoy track season. Poor kid.

Given the forecast, I doubt it will be played. I mean, if 6 year olds can't trick-or-treat, how can 14 year olds play football??

I am definitely hoping for Cooper to get the W this week....Being Senior Night and all, it would be great to have the boys leave with a home win rather than go 0-4 on their own field their final season.

Then the future is indeed bright! There are a bunch of sophs starting for Cooper too so we feel good, looking ahead. Heck, I am nowhere near ready to put this season behind us yet.

Outside of their own district, Newport, Boyd Co., Harrison Co. and Rowan Co. Their district is East and West Carter, Russell and Fleming Co. Have outscored their opponents 355-100 and with the margins in some of the games, I'd have to think they were holding back due to the mercy/running clock element. Their closest game was a 5 point W over Newport - before Newport got their game on but still...... I think Scott will have a tough night.

As a Cooper fan, the 2012 Scott Eagles just impressed the heck out of me. I predicted their success and wish them nothing but the best (unless and until we meet again, of course!!) I can't say the same about the 2013 Grant Co. Braves, BUT I did seem marked improvement over the past two seasons. They seemed to have a better understanding of the game, had better team speed, and they had several very athletic players out there. I was anxious to see their JV squad on Saturday morning and had high expectations, given their record being nearly identical to the younger Jags. If I'm not mistaken, we didn't see a JV squad in 2012 for me to compare to for progress but I got the impression there were kids on the JV squad who were either out of position or completely overlooked (one WR went unguarded nearly the whole game and only got one pass thrown his way if I remember correctly). The QB was solid, skilled enough ~ should be quite competent if he gains a little weight and height. They have a sizable line on both Varsity and JV's main RB was quite good. It might take longer than next season and the one after, but they are definitely moving in the right direction and I could see them in the play-offs by 2016. Patience is a virtue. The most difficult virtue, to be sure, but hang in there Braves!!

I wasn't going to address this at all....even deleted it twice in the update thread...but class and character were hardly on display tonight. Fans were cheering a kid who displayed horrific sportsmanship time after time. I got sucked in, not that it takes much to get my motor revvin '(aka my mouth runnin'). I just hate seeing cheap shots and hits after the whistle....L O N G after the whistle....like D A Y S after the whistle........

Can't say I disagree....you had decent numbers tonight (unless you also dressed the Frosh squad). You had a lot of BIG boys and your fair share of athletic kids too. How long have y'all had that coachimg staff?

Just dropped off THREE jackets for "updates" last week. Now the only question is, who wants to pay my electric bill?? Sad that nice tradition at Somerset was lost.....

His performance on D against NCC was one for the ages, but I'm sure his heart is on the other side of the ball. Still, you could see his grin from the stands when he was penetrating the O line that night. Was a thing of beauty.

Having a great season, no doubt about it! Solid performer on both sides of the ball, week in and week out. Luv us sum Fuss!!
