Who wins and why?

This may be the most intriuging game of the entire season for Cooper as far as I'm concerned.

 

Cooper has been so close in the majority of games this year. Only one game that was truly a good beatingand that was the SK game and even then it was basically a 1 score game until the end of the 3rd.

 

Cooper beat Dixie when they played 7 on 7, but Dixie crushed Cooper during their scrimmage. Cooper had their QB go out early in that scrimmage and Dixie crushed them the rest of the way.

I think Cooper threw 763 Interceptions that scrimmage.

 

This game could be a good barometer of how Cooper could do in the playoffs. Dixie I'm sure is favored to win, but if Cooper can keep it close or even win this one that will give the kids the confidence I think they need.

Dixie Heights 28-21.

I could see Cooper winning 28-21. Cooper has more to play for than Dixie. Dixie has little to gain from the game. Cooper has confidence to build.

These final games are so hard to predict. You don't know how each team is going to attack it. As mentioned, this game means nothing for Dixie. Do they play like they've played all year, do they work on the passing game to get ready for the playoffs, do they pack it in after a half, and let the backups get a lot of playing time?

 

If Dixie comes out to play like they have all year, then Dixie wins. However, I don't think they will. I think Brossart works on some things early and then sits his key players. Therefore, Cooper wins.

Instead of re-typing this...I'll just say I agree. I think Dixie is better, but I can see Cooper jumping up and getting this one.

Im not sure about this game. A lot of people are saying Dixie has nothing to play for and should and may just pack it in to get ready for the playoffs. Well, Cooper is in the same situation and actually already packed it in a week ago against Grant Co. They didn't show anything in that game and actually didn't show anything at all and I think they may do the same in this game against Dixie.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Cooper hides it's hand and just tries different things and lets a lot of JV players play in this game. I hope they don't and actually go out and try and win this one, I just don't know if that will be the case.

 

 

I was never a believer in trying to hide things you've been succesful at all year just because it's playoff time. If a team wants to see what you're good at they can get film on any game of the season if they tried hard enough. For many starters this game is like their first in 3 weeks and I think they need to get a lot of playing time like they will the following week in the playoffs just so they aren't rusty.

I'm thinking the same. But the Colonels really need to work on that passing attack.

I'm not a big fan of packing in because it's the last regular season game (with nothing on the line). I hope both teams go at it full strength and build on this game going into the post season.

Hahaha, so true. This game doesn't mean squat for either team, it's just a warm up for the playoffs. I don't think anyone is making excuses why they might lose. What I was saying earlier was that those on here that said Dixie would be packing it in because it doesn't mean anything for them, well the same was true for Cooper. The game has no affect on playoffs etc. or district etc.

 

Just both teams are in the same boat, it's for pride and I want Cooper to win so my boy can finish his high school career never losing to Dixie.

It is your last chance to discover any weaknesses and get them fixed before it ends your season. It is not the time to play halfway, not run all your plays and create bad habits and thoughts as you enter the playoffs. If a coach thinks this last game is not worth testing his team and going all out for a win, he should schedule an easy opponent so he can get a win at half speed and rest players. Some teams do that and if you had a brutal schedule during the season, I can see the logic in it. But here we have two good teams with playoff hopes alive. Play to win!

For this year's Dixie team there is one thing that has been proven true over the course of the season - the more they throw the ball, the less their chance of winning. Dixie is an old time power running football team and they need to keep that in mind every time they call a play.

I hadn't gotten to see Dixie since the CCH game. The passing aspect of their team really surprises me. I thought they had one of the better young QB's in the area coming in to the season. Why has their passing game struggled? I thought they had good receivers and a good TE. I'm kind of puzzled over this.

They don't have any threats on the outside. I've said it since the CovCath game that this is their glaring weakness (other than a shakey special teams which is always the case with them). If I'm game planning against them, I'm stacking the box and forcing their receivers to beat my man coverage. Their biggest pass catching threat this year has been Caple.
