Does Ryle Need A New Ship Captain?

Featured Replies

From talking to people in Union it seems like once again the question about the direction of the program is being asked. It seems like alot of fans are wanting to know when Ryle dominates again in 6a and challenges Highlands for the top team in NKY. Instead of challenging them the complaint is that they're falling farther and farther behind. Plus the offense and its style is boring the fans.

The comment that Coach Warner has done a great job building the program but its now to the point that it's getting stale. Is it time for a new plan ? Can Ryle be dominate again?

I'd be curious to hear from Raider fans.

At the moment Highlands is working on Friday and Ryle is working on Tuesday...

Not even close imo...Just sayin

Patience isn't something any football fan has, but the Freshman and youth programs are thriving in Union. If y'all can hang in there, some good things are in the wings. This coming from a camel.

I think this is Warner's last year of forgiveness. If they finish 1-9 or 2-8 (which is probable), he may be in trouble this year. Next year, he will have a junior and sophomore class filled with talent. The pressure will really be on. If he can't go .500 next year, he will be in deep trouble.

Look at the freshman records for the past several years. You hear it every year here on this board about how good the freshman are. Somewhere the word development is lost because they should not be that bad to lose to Shelby County. The last two years the schedule has been tough and this year it is tough but not as tough as the two years previous. If they lose to Boone and go 0-4 in district play that could spell trouble for Bryson. But I believe that if time is given then some development needs to be shown or their will be a new captain at Ryle. Just look the principal has fired the Boys basketball and girls basketball and softball coach because of restless natives, so it could be no different in this situation.

The next 2 years will be very interesting and should be the deciding factor. Ryle has a lot of talent in this years sophomore class and next years sophomore class. If the varsity can't win in the next 2 years then I would expect a change.

Now, with that said, I will also say that they have had talent the previous 2 years also coming up from their freshman classes and nothing has changed on the varisty level yet. So I wonder if it will even take the next 2 years before change is made.

When did they dominate 6A?

When Travis Elliot was running roughshod over NKY. Not to throw salt in the wound (but I will anyway), SK has recovered from Miles Simpson much better than Ryle has from Travis Elliot.

I think this may be a case of TOO MANY "Captains" on the ship.....there were 19 coaches on the sideline for the Cooper game and at least 2 more up in the booth. What is that - like a 3:1 athlete to coach ratio?? I saw one kid come off after a run for no gain and AT LEAST five different "coaches" laid into him. Ultimately, the head coach is responsible for the Win/Loss columns AND the sideline staff - he doesn't seem able to control either of those.

When did they dominate 6A?

That's what I was wondering. I don't recall them dominating NKY 6A. To much orange Kool Aid being drunk in Union. They do have a ton of freshman and sophomore talent. With a new coach Tanner Morgan would probably move back too.

You must have good feeder programs, which it sounds like Ryle has, and you must have a very good leader, and also coaches that develop players. Those last two I am not sure about, not being from Northern Kentucky.

I thought Coach Teegarden was the problem last year, now that he's moved on it must be Coach Warner that's the problem. Some of you need to get a clue about what should be expected out of coaches and programs. Before you ever state that a coach should be fired the first question that should be asked is are they losing to teams with less talent than they have? I just wonder who the Ryle pot stirrers on here think they could get that would accomplish more than what Warner has done at Ryle.

Ryle had better seasons before Elliott.when there was better support from , RIP, Randy Cooper. The decline has coincided with Matt Turner and his policies.

Also Coach Warner trusted too many people that were liars and personal agenda driven.

Closing the loop down and doing what he believes is right is his best chance.

What did the Ryle people think when they have a first year OC that has never been an OC? What did Warner expect when he hired someone within to call the offense when the ideas that were there weren't working? From what Ive been told, there are alot of kids walking through the hallways that do not want to play football for Ryle anymore. If that is the case, it might be time to change the head coach. From an outsiders perspective, the defensive staff is solid and Ryle's defense is good. The Offense either needs more time to work since the OC is new or they need a new OC with new ideas.
