I think it's cyclical. Maybe less talent than in years past. I also tend to agree with another poster that made a reference to the number of "coaches". Could be just too many people telling kids what they should and should not be doing. I feel Ryle will be fine in the years to come.

Sophomores - Runnerup to a very powerful Beechwood team

Juniors - ???

Seniors - ???

Ryle had better seasons before Elliott.when there was better support from , RIP, Randy Cooper. The decline has coincided with Matt Turner and his policies.

Also Coach Warner trusted too many people that were liars and personal agenda driven.

Closing the loop down and doing what he believes is right is his best chance.

Thats what I am wondering as well RE.

I think this may be a case of TOO MANY "Captains" on the ship.....there were 19 coaches on the sideline for the Cooper game and at least 2 more up in the booth. What is that - like a 3:1 athlete to coach ratio?? I saw one kid come off after a run for no gain and AT LEAST five different "coaches" laid into him. Ultimately, the head coach is responsible for the Win/Loss columns AND the sideline staff - he doesn't seem able to control either of those.

I think that's been the problem for awhile. Too many chiefs and not enough indians.

My view of this comment is it is worthless unless you back it up with some more information and facts. If you aren't willing to back it up, you should leave this comment unsaid.

I find it very difficult to believe that Mathew Turner doesn't want the schools football team to be successful.

I also do not understand how the principal tells the football coach what type of offense to run, because it sounds like from your post that you are saying Turner has a major influence on what schemes to run and what plays to call because that is the only way that a principal would have control over the football teams performance on Friday nights.

That is not good stuff for Warner. That tells me the talent is there to have success. I am not saying they should be dominating people because freshman results don't automatically mean wins on varsity (as Ryle is proving). However, freshman results are a statement of pure talent. Usually, the teams with talent win at the freshman level. If winning isn't happening at the varsity level, it isn't for lack of talent.

Are you trying to say Turner wants a "kinder, gentler" football team than Cooper did? That Turner has somehow reined in Warner's technique or policies or approach? That Turner has encouraged would-be footballers to go out for Speech and Debate or Drama Club instead? Help us out here!!

What it sounds like to me is rusty is trying to defend the coaching and push the responsibility of their success, or lack of it, on someone else.
