Couldn't agree more about the "closer to God" bull. Two of my sons were in on a tackle against NCC last year and the would-be ball carrier was yelling "Get off me, you EXPLETIVE DELETED HOMOPHOBIC SLUR DELETED!" My older son was amused, his younger brother shocked, telling me after the game "But that's a CATHOLIC school!" Sometimes, education don't cost a dime.

Heard it was U G L Y - completely one-sided. Hope the Jags come out better tomorrow at Dixie.

Kenton County gets upwards of more than $9 million - MILLION - more than Boone Co. from state and federal funding. Goes a LONG way in the perks department. And yes, Kenton has fewer students.

I get that but it's not like CCH has a specific territory that he MUST live in to play there. People keep commenting about moving "closer" to the school. I know kids south of Walton and north of the river who go to CCH so it seems silly to discuss his physical address as a means to get a waiver for that particular school.

Actually, Powell only played 7 years as a Lion. Pleasant was there as a 5 year old, along with a great group of boys who spread like the wind when the Lions program went to - better left unsaid. They now play at Dixie, SK, Scott, Cooper, Ryle and Lloyd. That group played 3 years at Starter, two as Midgets, two as Juniors and one year as Seniors before being disbanded and going to various middle school teams.

Why does address matter when CovCath can and does draw from all over NKy?? What am I missing?

I don't think they do. If so, Cooper players largely unaware and will be tardy.

Anyone attend? Had to work and anxious to hear how Molitor and company did against the Jags' defense since I fear that may be the Jags' only weapon this season.

Would love to see it as two of my favorite kids on the planet will be there. SK's Dillon Powell and Scott's Deondre Pleasant. They played together for 8 seasons as Erlanger Lions. Hope they both have a phenomenal season!

Very smart move. I saw marked improvement in their program last year as far as athleticism, play selection and endurance.

I thought there would be some talk of Deondre Pleasant on this squad. He played some D and special teams last year as a sophomore. Some speed, hard-hitting. Expected him to maybe carry the ball since there were so many moving on.

Impossible to predict what my Jags will do this year. They are gonna be young but smart, stingy on defense but playing their usual tough schedule. Only one game could be considered a sure thing (if those exist in HS football). Eager to see who is at QB when the smoke clears and if Cordell-Armstrong can come back from that ugly break (leg) with strength and confidence. Optimistically, 7-3.

I know there is a commitment to platooning this year that will certainly benefit the Jags. The defense is going to be stingy and keep them in every game. The rising Juniors are a solid bunch, athletically, and many saw significant minutes last year. There are questions on the other side of the ball. If Cordell-Armstrong returns at full strength, he has to get sprung. He is super dangerous once he reaches the second level. His injury was ugly and he must come back with confidence. Will the would-be QB's accept a new role? If the offense clicks, I look for a very good season.

And just to be clear, I do offer whatever my kids are selling via a FB post to my friends. But I just don't think I could do it in exchange for nothing more than a warm fuzzy.

There is a certain perception about Ryle, no? I know SEVERAL families with sons on that roster and all but one of them could write the check today. And since only that mom made a public appeal, I'm assuming the rest already have written one. I could be totally wrong - I know the saying about assuming.

Really? Feeling more out of touch with every post. I have 3 sons that play high school sports. My circle of friends includes most of their friends' parents who are also selling the gold card, the mulch, the spirit cups, the spirit wear, the drink card, the mattresses. They are already at the golf outing, the cornhole tournament, the poker night. Kid 1 can hit up Uncle B. Kid 2 gets Aunt K. Kid 3 reaches out to Grandpa W. PLEASE tell me how to expand our network. I just can't see asking for a donation. I'd rather write the check if it comes to that. Even a check X3.
