  1. Scott is due for one of those head-scratchers ... I say MoCo by 47. Then the Eagles will rebound on Friday and beat CovCath ... "As The World Turns", Scott-style .... (all said tongue-in-cheek :whistling:)
  2. Agree .. several quality opponents. However, once the calendar has turned to 2015, their best competition would have been: Jan 2 St Louis Christian Jan 16 CovCath Feb 13 Holmes Feb 17 Trinity Several opponents are District/NKAC required games, but the majority of the other 12-15 games have been/will be walk-overs.
  3. Agree with your assessment .. it's NCC's tournament for the taking. Interesting observation .. a few years ago, St. Henry girls soccer was trying to win a STATE championship, and opted out of the All A tournament because the 6-7 games would eat in to their khsaa allotted number of games, and they wanted more competitive games in preparation for the STATE run. They took a bunch of grief about that. If NCC blows thru the competition this week, then loses out later this season in the Regional tournament, I'm curious if they would have been better prepared by playing a schedule similar to CovCath's. I'm not trying to stir up a hornet's nest, and it's too late to change. NCC has had some quality opponents, but will the 8 victories in the All A benefit them?
  4. It will be interesting to see if the larger court will affect the Panthers and their lack of depth (basically playing 6 players). Taking nothing away from Augusta, but the longer court could wear them down, something they're not used to.
  5. With all due respect to other teams, if NCC doesn't win this tourney, there should be an inquiry. They're clear favorites.
  6. Must have been a brutal night for Beetle. According to the posted film, his three made 2pt baskets were basically layups, plus one 3pt FG. Fine player and a fine team. I attribute their performance to nothing more than a Tuesday night, mid-January, far-away-from-home road game with little implications, against a quality team looking to make a statement against a state-ranked opponent. So some kids where jawing .. who cares? Much ado about nothing .. justsayin
  7. Either way, HHS would likely face both.
  8. And a tough break for HHS, come Regional time. Regardless of 35th District outcome, HHS in all likelihood will have to beat BOTH Holy Cross and Holmes (unless NDA upsets one of them) to win a Regional. (Same thing on boys side .. NCC will likely have to beat BOTH CovCath and Holmes.) Brutal for both HHS and NCC.
  9. That's an interesting observation, only because that is how Coach Dawn has been so effective over the years .. with full-court, in-your-face, high intensity defense. You would think his teams would respond better to it because of their familiarity with it.
  10. Maybe CovCath should have Ruthsatz coach the football team as well. Just sayin' ...
  11. First game (5:30pm) of a Tripleheader at BOKC on NKU Campus. Holmes-Cooper at 7:00pm NCC-CovCath at 8:30pm Talk about bang-for-you-buck ...
  12. I saw that game. With no malice toward Coach Hinson or any of the other Panthers, Bach won that game ALL .. BY .. HIMSELF. It was ridiculous how he was able to score, at all three levels. May be the only time I'll ever see one player win a game, with so much at stake, by himself. It was a thrill to see.
  13. I know the TH is this Friday 1/16. What are the dates of the bolded DHs?
  14. Antrobus has a high ceiling. Reminds me somewhat of Snapp at the same age. Maybe not as quick, but equal from long range. He came off some hard screens really well, caught and shot in the same motion, nothing but the bottom. Best of luck to him going forward.
  15. Congratulations to Jeff!! I have to admit .. this surprises me .. but I'm sure Jeff will do an outstanding job! He is a first class individual. Best of luck!
  16. And after reading this a second time, do I have this correct ... Scott shot half of their shots (19 of 38 taken) from beyond the arc? And they shot a better percentage beyond the arc (11-19 58%) than they did within the arc (10-19 53%)??! Note to self .. you better extend your defense against the Eagles!
  17. Wow! That is crazy good .... very impressive at the high school level by both teams.
  18. PLEASE ... DON'T ... FEED ... THE ... BEAR!!!!!! :ohbrother:
  19. I agree .. great news that some other schools/kids are getting some well-deserved attention. I always love to watch the Calvary kids compete. They never take a play off, often in games when they have little-to-no chance, and display the best sportsmanship of any team. Well done Matt .. enjoy the game!
  20. Congrats to the Birds on a BIG win .. very convincing. On a side note, I heard that Mikayla Seibert's (NCC) high school athletic career is over due to a lower back injury. What an unfortunate turn of events for an outstanding three-sport (soccer, basketball, track) star. Not many kids can list the accomplishments that young lady has achieved .. state championships in all three sports. I wish her nothing but the best, and a lifetime of health and happiness. Two-thumbs up to a very bright, energetic, always-smiling kid!!
  21. Scott has the ability to score in bunches. The few times I've seen them, it's run-and-gun. When the shots are falling, they're going to be a tough out.
  22. Nothing in that video appears to be T-worthy. Unfortunate. However, bad judgement on James' part reaching completely around the player. You're never going to get the jump ball call like that...never! In his defense, I also find him in my limited knowledge to be a very respectful, God-fearing young man. I hope this passes quickly for him, and he completes a very successful senior season.
  23. Best of luck to you Parker Harris, and thank you for your service to our country. Salute!
  24. Scott, Augusta, Newport, Ryle .. all could make some noise. But that final has Campbell/Mason written all over it.
