Fort Campbell/Paducah Tilghman Updates
PT starting to hit there stride.. They may well surprise a team or 2 in the playoffs. Wouldn't be surprised to see them in Semi-finals, but, would have to beat FSimpson and the SWarren/Caldwell winner, so, it won't be easy..

KHSAA Releases 2015-2018 Draft Alignment
Ohio Co is as close to the D2 6a schools as they are to the D1 6a schools. I don't see any reason for D2 6a to only have 3 schools while D1 has 5. I think they should change that.. I think Berea has a good point and would be better in the district they're requesting. I don't see any reason 1a should have any 3 team districts.

KHSAA Releases 2015-2018 Draft Alignment
I agree 100% about S.Warren. They should definately be reassigned to 5A because of the enrollment advantage. I also understand the reason for the rotating districts in 6a. T and X hold that same enrollment advantage, but, there's no larger class to put them in, so, the fairest way to handle that is to do exactly what they're doing. No other class has as large an enrollment difference from top to bottom than 6a. It is amusing that Conner and Cooper opt to move up so they could get away from Highlands, now they're petitioning to get away from Trinity. Give me a break.

All the Coaching changes
Is it just me or this year an unusually high turnover rate for head coaches. Maybe it's just because of some of the programs involved, it appears that way, but, I can't ever remember this much turnover in 1 season, especially the quality schools involved. Just off the top of my head: Murray Tilghman Highlands Raceland Boyle Co Lex Cath LCA Mad Cen That's some pretty strong programs and some good opportunities for some up and comers and this is just a drop in the bucket of all the openings out there. Wonder why all the change all of a sudden?

Highlands to host 8A Christopher Columbus Miami (FL)
If this team is an 8a team in Fl, then you can bet they'll be a solid team. Didn't trinity have 5 or 6 losses last year? just sayin'.

2-A Projections
I can't even imagine Fulton City fielding a team in the next alignment with only 43 boys in the whole school as of last years #s. If they don't, then Ft Knox would move back to 1a and whoever the smallest 3a team is would fall back to 2a. I could see 8-10 of the Fulton City kids that do want to play football transfer to Fulton Co or S.Fulton, Tn. if they are unable to field a team.

What if Kentucky had a "Super Class" for football?
How about 3 super classes with the top 24 teams in each.. 1a and 2a together, 3a and 4a together and 5a and 6a together. Once playoffs start, seed the top 8 teams in each division to get a 1st round bye and base the super division on results from the prior 4 years, It may look something like this: Small School Super Division D1) Murray Mayfield Caldwell Co Russellville D2) OB Catholic Glasgow Monroe Co Union Co D3) Bardstown CAL Desales Danville D4) Somerset WBurg Hazard M'Boro D5) NCC Beechwood Frankfort Cov HCross D6) P'Burg Pikeville Raceland Fairview 3a-4a Super Division D1) Tilghman Ft Campbell Madisonville Owensboro D2) F.Simpson S.Warren E'Town W.East D3) Central Collins Boyle Co Lex Catholic D4) Highlands Cov Catholic Bourbon Co Mason Co D5) Wayne Co Russell Co Bell Co Corbin D6) Ashland Belfry Johnson Cen Breathitt Co Big School Ssuper Division D1) McCracken Co Henderson Co Graves Co Christian Co D2) Meade Co B.Green W.Central Pulaski Co D3) J.Hardin St X C.Hardin Butler D4) Trinity Ballard Manual Male D5) S.Kenton D.Heights Campbell Co Conner D6) Scott Co Henry Clay B.Station Tates Creek

Steve Duncan steps down as Murray's head coach
Maybe heading to Henry Co Tn. Great 5a program in Tn that just won state the last 2 years.

2015-2018 Football Realignment Projection
4A would lose Lex Cath, Cov Cath, Boyle Co which are arguably Highlands biggest competition. It would add Bourbon Co, Mason Co, WCentral, J.Hardin, Wayne Co, so, I think they'd still be challenged, but, not to the degree those 1st 3 gave them.

Name The Year
Hopkinsville may have been the best team in the state that year that didn't win the title. They had boat loads of D1 talent that year. Miguel Merritt went on to play LB at Bama, there QB set a lot of passing records at Cinci, Artose Pinner was a backup RB that went on to star at UK. Merritt had a brother on the team, as well, that was a stud and they had a 6'6 WR that went on to play D1 ball. I think they also had a couple of D1 linemen. They beat Tim Coach's Leslie Co team that year by about 50 points, after Leslie had beaten Highlands and were blowing teams off the field prior to that game. They also handed Mayfield it's only loss of the season that year in a classic game. As far as Beechwood and Mayfield goes, I didn't think either team was much better than the other. They played different styles. Beechwood was a fast strike passing team with a heck of a QB and heck of a WR that gave the Cardinal secondary fits all day long. They would take the ball and score in about 2 minutes. Mayfield would get the ball back and put together 12-15 play drives mostly running the ball 4-5 yards at a time. Mayfield's OL dominated Beechwoods DL all game long, but, the Tigers were so proficient offensively, they would answer back in 2-3 minutes. Then Mayfield would eat another 6-7 minutes off the clock on a long drive and score. Basically, neither teams defense had much of an answer for the others offense. Game could have gone either way.

Now rate the final 12 teams
After going back and rewatching all the games, I'm gonna make a few changes: 1) B.Green 2) Scott Co 3) Collins 4) Highlands 5) Meade Co 6) Pulaski Co 7) Mayfield 8) Desales 9) Belfry 10) Wayne Co 11) NCC 12) Williamsburg My changes were moving Collins up to 3, I moved Pulaski way up to 6. Collins deserved to move up because they had great balance on offense and was solid against the run. Highlands was pretty much forced to pass because that was there only way to move the ball and they had some big plays, but, it wasn't because Collins was in the wrong position, it was because Highlands made good plays. Pulaski's passing game was also very good and that QB of theres(Johnny Football Jr clone) could play. He was effective on the run or in the air and they had 3-4 stud receivers and a couple of really solid RBs that'd flat laying you out. I also thought there D was good, especially in the 1st half and 3/4 way thru the 3rd qtr. A lesser team other than a BG, may very well have went down against that Pulaski team.

1a vs 2a at the top in 2013
Not sure I would count Somerset in that group, since they did lose to Hazard, who, at the very best, was maybe 7th or 8th in 1a. That same Somerset team made it to the Final 4 in 2a. Hazard didn't make it that far in 1a. NCC beat Beechwood 34-31 and Frankfort beat Beechwood 33-21. Again, this same NCC team made the 2a finals, while Frankfort was eliminated in the Final 4 of 1a. I 100% agree with you on Caldwell, Desales and CAL. Even though Caldwell was upset in the regional playoff round as well as CAL, those 2 teams could have won 1a, although the way Mayfield was playing in the playoffs, it wouldn't have been an easy task. In watching Desales, they were also a very solid team, especially offensively, but, there D was a little suspect, imo, but, impressive nonetheless. While those teams were strong, I do think if WBurg, Frankfort, Pikeville, Hazard, Raceland, Russellville and Beechwood would have been on the east side of the 2a bracket, they all would have had a very good chance of being in the finals. 2a had 3 or 4 really good teams, but, they were all on 1 side of the bracket. NCC was good, as well, but, they really didn't have alot of competition in getting to the title game.

1a vs 2a at the top in 2013
If you look at the 1a top teams : Mayfield, Russellville, Frankfort, Beechwood, Pikeville, Wburg, Raceland, Fairview, Hazard, Bellevue... Those 10 teams match up with 2a very well. I could see the majority of these being in the Top 10 or close in the 2a rankings. Top 10 2a teams : Desales, NCC, CAL, Caldwell Co, Glasgow, Murray, Somerset, Bardstown, PBurg, Middlesboro. But, after those 10, you still have Danville, OB Catholic, Union Co, W.Verona, Gallatin Co, B.Layne that could all be Top 10 teams in 1a. The depth is the difference, but, from 1-10, not much difference, maybe even a little advantage to 1a.

Should the KHSAA allow teams to play up in class?
I think they should allow teams to play up that want to play up because they've built there programs up to an elite level. People talking about Highlands moving down to 3a would not be good for there program. They shouldn't be penalized with weaker competition should they want to challenge themselves against bigger schools. On the other hand, teams wanting to move up to get away from a certain team or teams shouldn't be allowed to move up. The geographic situation should continue to be allowed.
