Butler manages another 1st down on their next possession, but, can't maintain it and punts it back to the CArds, 1st and 10 at their own 25..

2 plays later and the Cards are in the end zone again, the 1st play a big run by Bright to get the Cards to the Butler 20 and on the next play, Arnett hits Lumpson on a 20 yard TD strike, PAT good.. With 3:16 left in 1st quarter, 14-0 Mayfield..

Butler manages to pick up a 1st down on there next possession, but, that was all they could muster and punt it back to the Cardinals.. 1st and 10 at the Card 32

Mayfield strikes 1st on a 1 yard run by Kyle Hurt... PAT good, with 5:28 to go in 1st quarter, Mayfield 7 Butler Co 0

The Bears go 3 and out and are forced to punt.. Mayfield gets the ball on their 2nd possession at their own 48 yard line..

Mayfield drives it down to the Butler 5 yard line, but, were forced to try a field goal and it was missed from 24 yards out.. 1st and 10 Butler at their own 20

Mayfield kicks off to start the game and Butler Co can't handle the kickoff and Mayfield recovers and gets the ball in great field position..

I do feel Christian Co is BGs biggest challenge in 5a, other than possibly Cov Catholic, which is fairly even with the Colonals. I think BG wins, but, I feel CC will keep it closer than the prior game.. I think it'll be a 28-14 type game with the Purples scoring a late 4th quarter TD to stretch it to 35-14 in the end. A nice, solid win, but, not a shellacking as a lot of people think.

While 2a would lose some very good teams, they'd replace them with Belfry, Bardstown, Caldwell Co and Russell, so, it would somewhat balance itself out..

Class 1a sure got a lot tougher in this scenario.. Adding Mayfield, OB Catholic, NCC, Cov Holy Cross & LCA.. 4 of those 5 going on the west side along with Murray..WOW

Does anyone have stats on Mayfield's WR core: Trey Matthews Jordan Harrison Jack Murrell Anton Lumpson # of catches # of yards # of TDs

2 prolific offensive teams. I think Mayfield's D will look at this as a challenge and take it to heart and play big.. I do expect Butler to manage a couple of big plays and score a few, but, I don't see Butler being able to keep pace against Mayfield's offensive weapons, team speed and overall depth.. McCracken is still a relatively new program and in my opinion, lack the confidence to win big games against teams of similar size and talent because they've not done it yet. Until they actually get that one big signature win, they'll continue to struggle. Once they get one, and they eventually will, I think you'll see a lot more on an annual basis. PRP may not have the name recognition of a Trinity or Male, but, they're still a very solid team that's been a Top 10 6a team all year..

The Cardinal offense hitting on all cylinders, gaining big chucks of yardage on nearly every play and doing it for the most part on the ground, as Trajon Bright's having a big game.. The Cardinal D looking strong also and has yet to surrender a Hornet 1st down..
