2-A Projections

Anyone want to take a stab at 2-A district alignments?

As far as the East goes, no clue. "WKY" pretty easy, though. I think Region 1 and Region 2 will look very similar to what it is now. I'll give it a shot:

D1: Ballard Memorial, Mayfield, Murray, Webster

D2: McLean, O'Cath, Todd Central, Butler County, Hancock

D3: Glasgow, Clinton County, Green County, Metcalfe County, Monroe County

D4: Washington County, Fort Knox, DeSales, CAL, Shawnee

D5: Trimble County, Carroll County, Gallatin County, Walton-Verona

D6: Cov. Holy Cross, Newport, NewCath, Lloyd Memorial,

D7 & D8: Good Luck...7-8 team districts.

Or....(to ease the overload in the East and districts 5-8)

D1, D2, D3 the same

D4: Washington, Fort Knox, Shawnee, CAL, DeSales, Trimble County, Carroll County

D5:Gallatin County, Walton-Verona, Newport, NewCath, Lloyd Memorial, Cov. Holy Cross

D6:

...I quit....2A is going to be a headache. So many scenarios and so many people that will have gripes that they should go here, instead of there.

D1, D2 and D3 are about the only certainties IMO.

Man, 2A is going to be a thresher.

Gonna be awful. Noway to make everybody happy. I don't see how D1, D2 and D3 won't be what they are, and most of D4...after that...start pulling them out of a hat.

As my grandpa used to say when things were the same either way, "Six in one...half a dozen in the other. However you want to look at it." :idunno:

I saw somewhere that DeSales was projected to move up to 3A, is that correct?

I had initially projected they would be the smallest 3A team, not certain if you saw those or another one. The reason they ended up in 2A was because of how Thomas Nelson was handled. They've only been a school for two years, and the KHSAA used the current year to fill in the two other years for the four year average. Since the current year's enrollment was higher, it ended up being enough to move them into 3A, knocking down DeSales.

I would think that for travel reasons that Todd County would get placed in district 1 and Webster County in district 2. Todd has a long way to travel regardless of which district they end up in but Webster would be a lot closer to the other teams in district 2 than 1.

They could go either way. I was just more or less placing them in that district bc that's mostly what it is even now.

Todd is messed over either way to be honest. Lesser of two evils as far as travel.

I agree

I can't even imagine Fulton City fielding a team in the next alignment with only 43 boys in the whole school as of last years #s. If they don't, then Ft Knox would move back to 1a and whoever the smallest 3a team is would fall back to 2a. I could see 8-10 of the Fulton City kids that do want to play football transfer to Fulton Co or S.Fulton, Tn. if they are unable to field a team.

Why they don't merge Fulton City and Fulton County is absolutely beyond me. I don't get it.

Build a school right there at the intersection of 239 and 94, which is about halfway between the two towns and easy access from those spread out between the two and get on with it.

Academically they wouldn't take a hit and would probably improve.

Athletically, they could field teams across the board who could actually compete instead of having them just for the sake of sporting a team. Their athletic teams across the board are just sent out for slaughter more times than not.

Sad.

Sorry to get off subject, b/c that's a thread all for itself.

I agree

I mean, how are they even able to develop any kind of a feeder system?

If all they have is 43 boys 9-12, logic tells you that they just have half of that in their MS (counting just 7th and 8th here); thats 20-25 boys. Fact is, half of them don't/won't play football.

What about Little League?

Blows my mind.

I guarantee it wouldn't bother the kids one bit. Heck, I bet they would want to merge. I know who it is...the adults. Ones who can't let it go.
