1) Offense is NOT Garrard's issue... Passing, Running, it doesn't matter - the offense has handled everything thrown at it. The defense has been the problem. 2) Can't claim to know much about Caldwell, Tilghman, or E-Town, but I would bet my house Adair does not have more speed/athleticism than Garrard. Nor does Lawrence County. I think a lot of people, who have never seen Garrard play, make assumptions on their caliber of athletes by stats - the fact that they are a run-based team, but they definitely have athletes. 3) Garrard's major issue has been injuries and/or illness - as well as death's around the program. They have not been full strength this season. Not sure it will happen, but if they do get close - they have plenty of "firepower". 4) On the outside looking in, it just seems like this season has been a fight for GC all year. Inconsistency has been the rule.

FWIW, my understanding is that, in high heat/humidity, this is a pretty common occurrence, and that the stadium was still structurally safe. The $60 million pricetag is big, but it was part of a $120 million bond issue approved by local voters - and it also built a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Auditorium and Academic Services space. The stadium itself also has spaces for baseball/softball, wrestling, golf, band, & cheerleaders.

Last I heard, turnovers and 4th down conversions are part of the game. Not sure what was questionable for East, but I do know that Garrard's D-line were getting cut blocked in shotgun all game... That is against the rules.

I think Garrard is still being punished for losing to what is turning out to look like a really good Shelby County team. They soundly beat a Madison Southern team that whipped Bourbon last week. The Lions haven't played very well, honestly, but I think they should be right at the door.

If you have it closer to the population center(s) there is an argument to be made that you would get more casual fans, and not just the die-hards. And, FWIW, I have never heard a player or coach complain about "atmosphere" at any of the venues.

This is an important point, that I think a lot of the geographical arguments miss... Which stadium will get the MOST PEOPLE.

How so? Doesn't it slow Rock's "speedsters" down just as much? I could see if Garrard ran the spread, but they don't. How does the rain affect Garrard's offense any more than Rock's?

I would agree that GC probably doesn't have the depth of speed that Danville does, but I would wager that Rockcastle's 5 fastest guys aren't nearly as fast as Garrard's. Doesn't mean Garrard will win, just that their speed is plenty good enough to give Rock fits.

IDK what just happened on this thread... My original point was that, if speed is what beat Rock against Danville, and Garrard showed comparable speed in their 7on7 against Danville, that Garrard's speed would be similar in a contest against Rock. Certainly didn't expect the WikiLeaks track this thread has taken.

Danville's receivers may be faster, but my understanding is that Garrard's more than held their own in 7 on 7. That is not a game, but if your argument is about speed, I don't think Danville's is that much better. The main concern to me is that Garrard is just beat up, right now. Lots of injuries/illnesses.

If "everyone" does that at camp, then "everyone" is violating the rules. Just because "everyone" does it doesn't mean it is right, or even okay. The film thing is bad enough, because it violates the trust that should exist between coaches. Finally, the watering thing is stupid... I don't know if it is illegal - but it is stupid. I have never understood it - doesn't a waterlogged field slow your team down just as much as the other?

I like the way you are thinking, but I am not sure Garrard can score 4 TDs, much less win by 4 of them. Not a knock on their offense, but they are pretty methodical.

This is where I get off the train... The net yardage reflects the fact that a returner catches and returns the ball. If the returner is not there to at least fair catch, that thing can roll forever. Field position is valuable.

Saw Lincoln's loss against Henry - they looked pretty bad. Hearing that Garrard is still really beat up. Hard to call this one.

I would only concede the coverage and the hang time arguments... Definitely not true that punts can be more easily controlled - the whole point behind placekicking is accuracy. I also would argue whether PKs are inherently shorter than Punts. Either way, with the concessions on coverage & hang time, the increased accuracy and blocking time are good trade offs.

The offense had nothing to do with Garrard's loss on Friday... BTW, the QB had over 70 yds rushing. many of those yards were on scrambles from attempted passes.

Let me rephrase... Assuming you can execute BOTH properly, a placekick provides some significant advantages over a punt.

1) It is not easier to block a placekick. Snap to kick time is a lot quicker. 2) Placekicks go farther. 3) Placekicks are easier to control, therefore you could just angle them out of bounds.

What I don't get is why no one punts from a FG formation... There is no difference b/w a FG and punt in the rules, as far as returns. Plus, placekicks are faster, and can be controlled more easily. Just line up and kick it out of bounds .

I am hearing from a lot of panicked GC fans... Shelby struggled last year, but is probably big and athletic. Hard to peg this one. Anyone know anything about Shelby? Who did they scrimmage? gchs_uk9 - you are the most knowledgeable Garrard fan on here - what do you think?

I have been looking around to find independent information as to EXACTLY what JCPS said about artificial turf. A Google search has not yielded any results - does anyone have a linked article, minutes from a Board meeting, etc. to verify? I think this is one of those things that the exact wording of the policy could make a big difference in perceptions of the policy.

This isn't my understanding of the Red Book restrictions... I don't think gate receipts count as "student-generated." That would be fundraisers. I could be wrong, but that is my understanding.

Hallelujah! Someone on my side of things - you never hear anyone talk about how boring Auburn's offense is, but Gus Malzahn bases his entire offense off the Delaware Wing-T. He just backed his QB up a little. You never hear anybody knocking the play selection of Urban Meyer's offenses, but his system is a hybrid of the old Single Wing and triple-option. That shotgun snap must really open up the offense and put defenses in a bind. The truth is, the Wing T is, and always will be, an effective offense for two reasons. 1) It exploits the prevailing defensive practice of linebackers reading flow. 2) It forces DL to read blocks & squeeze rather than attacking upfield. DL also aren't crazy about all those down blocks.

I would put Garrard ahead of Tilghman, THIS year. After that, it is hard to tell.

I thought I heard that Mercer had received a grant for an artificial turf field... Either way, I am glad football will be moving back to AJ Stadium - it was always a great venue.
