Does anyone know when the KHSAA bids out the football title games site again?

 

What are the chances of it moving to Lexington/UK since Commonwealth Stadium made the switch to turf?

 

Sorry if this has been discussed previously but I'm new and would personally like to see it move to UK and allow these kids to play on the biggest stage possible.

BG has it for a few years, would be good to see in in Lexington but I think basketball tournament should rotate to the Yum center also.

Commonwealth would be the worst place of all the stadiums capable of holding Just way to big. WKU is the perfect fit

WKU has it through 2018. One of the key components is Russell Athletic is title sponsor and is owned by fruit of the loom who's corporate headquarters just happen to be in Bowling Green.

I really like Commonwealth, especially since it's been redesigned. Looks great. But with that said, I think WKU is the perfect place for it. It's not too big to just be 80% empty, and has a really good set up for the games.

 

And I don't think it's going to move due to Russell being based in BG.

I like WKU but Commonwealth wouldn't be that bad. It has a more closed in and closer feeling that Papa John's.

 

EKU is in the middle of a renovation and adding quite a bit of seating on the away side. When that is completed I think Richmond would be a great place also.

WKU is fine and all but the vast majority of kids would want to play at UK. More to do. State university. Bigger venue. Bigger stage.

If EKU had a tad bit bigger stadium that would also be an ideal location. Something more centralized is better for everyone. That way schools like Ft. Thomas Highlands don't have to travel so far.

 

I get what you're saying about Commonwealth Stadium and it makes sense to me but I don't think that will ever happen.

WKU being so far away from most of the state is the issue. UK is centralized and makes the most sense of all the places that could host the game.

Murray Stat would also be a good venue with the new turf and it would be great for the cowd

UK would be way to big, and UL was basically a home game for at least 3 if not 4 schools playing for the championship. WKU is just way to far. Yes they have beautiful facilities and are a nice fit for the typical state championship crowd but the trek is just too far. I honestly think it keeps the crowd from being bigger for NKY schools which normally send 2-3 teams on average to state. I believe once EKU's stadium renovations are complete and the contract is up at WKU, Richmond should be seriously considered. BUT with Russell being the sponsor that it is and the founder is an alumi of WKU it wouldn't shock me at all if it stays at WKU due to politics.

Most fail to realize that you all in Mayfield are 160 miles from the WKU campus, but most also think that Western Kentucky University is actual Western Kentucky.

 

A place like Corbin is actually closer to the WKU campus (even, though it's just 4 miles) than Mayfield. Mayfield is only 18 miles closer to WKU than Richmond is.....but, Shhhhhhhh...don't tell anybody that.

I sure hope so. It would be ideal for the whole state.

If it leaves WKU...and that's a BIG "if", I'd say it'll be UK. I'd like to see it rotate every other year from BG to Lex.
