I don't think anyone is saying that Nicholas can't win. Just saying that West's speed could hurt them. I will not be surprised either way. This should be a great game.

Bath should have a solid group of sophomores.

West has speed and that is Nicholas County's achilles heel. Nicholas will need to milk the clock and pound the ball to win it.

That score is actually reversed. Fleming had 48 and Rowan had 9.

Final from Morehead. Rowan tacks on a late score to set the final. Fleming led 35-2 at the half.

Estill will dominate the district this year.

Not sure Mason County will win this game, North Laurel has a pretty good team. However, I do think Mason County has the talent to win 3-4 more games this year.

Greenup took advantage of short fields to score their 17 points on Flemings defense. I think their longest scoring drive (the field goal) they started around the 45. They got 14 points off a pick six from a tipped pass and a kickoff return that sealed it. Either they ran out of gas offensively or Fleming turned it up because they only had around 50 yards and a few first downs in the second half.

East should be improved from last year and I would think West is not as good (they lost some studs that would have started for anybody!!!). However, I don't think the gap has closed enough that this will be a close game. The Brown cousins are still an explosive duo and West seems to be playing some tough defense. It is a rivalry game and that can make teams play above their ability level for a while, but in the end I think West wins by 21+ points.

I agree falling behind 24-0 is not good. It was good to see them fight back and take the lead. In years past, they might have got blown out in that situation. However, it was un-excusable to let them return the kick after fighting back the way they did.

Actually, it is a combination of both. Their talent level is down from recent years (and WAY down from the Cross and Wing days). But, the distractions from the off season are going to haunt them for a while.

I think Lewis can throw the ball a little bit so they might score some points but I don't think they can stop Nicholas enough to beat them.

I thought it was only going to show the first clip. Tyus Taylor caught the second pass and Zac Alexander caught the 3rd one. All pretty good catches!

Will Fleming County get back on track or will Rowan County pick up their first win?

I wouldn't say Fleming County's defense wilted. They gave up 17 points with their defense. Greenup got a score off a tipped pass interception return and a kickoff return. Greenups longest scoring drive was around 45 yards. After the first quarter, Greenup was up 21-0 and they kicked a field goal to go up 24-0 halfway thru the 2nd. From that point on, they only had a few first downs and never threatened.

How many did Greenup have after the first quarter? Look at the stats in the ADI. Fleming had way more yards. Greenup dominated the first quarter and then had a kickoff return in the 4th. Never threatened to score after the field goal. First quarter was 21-0 Greenup. Second was 16-3 Fleming. 3rd was 8-0 Fleming. 4th was 7-6 Greenup on a kickoff return. Fleming had another drive in the red zone in the 4th and fumbled. When did Greenup threaten to score after the field goal? Greenup did enough to win, but if their defense is great, Fleming must have a phenomenal offense because they threw for well over 200 yards and 4 TD's. Your offense scored twice on Fleming. The other scores were int off a tipped pass and kick off return.

Crump from Fleming had another big night as well as 42 Zac Alexander. He had several catches last night and one that was one of the best catches I have seen in a game.

The tale of this game was field position early and turnovers. In the first quarter Greenup capitalized off of a short field and turnover (pick 6) to build th e 24-0 lead. Fleming County then took control and scored the next 30 points before Greenup County scored on the kickoff return that ended up being the game winner. All in all a great high school game to watch. Greenup did enough to get the win. Fleming will have to get the turnover bug under control and they will be fine. For 3 quarters I felt they controlled the game. But, you play 4 in football!

Not sure what you are referring to.

I agree it varies from team to team. Some teams only throw 1-5 times a game and they are going to be predominately to 1 or 2 kids. Others spread it out. Depends on the offense, depth at receiver, etc... Fleming County throws it more than most and their stats have been: week 1, 9 completions to 7 different receivers. Week 2, 16 completions to 6 different receivers.
