Wow. Mason County football has fallen fast. Can the Mason County fans give some insight in to what has happened?

You think maybe Fleming County has gotten better?

Fleming has not gotten better. Mason has won one game since Coach B left. So. You do the math....Has Fleming gotten better.....or has Mason fallen off.

It's a little of both. Mason has definitely dropped off the past couple of years, but Fleming has absolutely gotten better. This Fleming team looks primed to have its best season in some time. There's no shame in acknowledging that.

I would agree that this years Fleming team is better than last years. But.. Mason has a lot of work to do since the departure of Coach B.

Mason, in my opinion has fallen off more than Fleming has gotten better. And I can't see how anyone can/could argue that. By seasons end. This win will mean nothing for Fleming other than they beat a Mason team (who I hate to say) might not win many more games than last year. I hope that isn't the case. But time will tell. Good luck to both teams going forward.

Fleming County beat Mason the last year Coach B was there as well. You do the math. Give kids credit when it is due.

If you read my second post. I said Fleming has gotten better. So credit was given to Fleming which is deserved by the Fleming kids/coaches and their staff. AND Coach B was not at Mason Co last year. (Unless he was hiding in the stands with the fans when Fleming/Mason played)

This is Coach Thomas second season as head coach at Mason. As I previously stated. In my opinion. Mason has fallen off more than Fleming has gotten better. Especially if you look farther back than just the previous two years. Fleming has always fielded a good competitive team and maybe even beat Mason in the regular season. But Mason has went farther in the post season the last few years. Even eliminating Fleming while doing so.

I am out of chalk now......so.....math class is done.

I will take my last turn with the chalk. Fleming has beaten Mason 3 straight years. 2 years ago Coach Buchanan brought a good Mason County team to Flemingsburg and lost 16-9. History lesson over.

Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.

I would have to agree with the "history lesson"....however history wasn't my strongest point In school. I could say that Fleming beat a good Mason team two years ago that suffered several key player injuries during the season. Some of which were season/career ending injuries for some players. (Coach B son being one of them.) However I will not do that in respect to your "panther Pride" and claim for "victory fame."

Beating Mason last night might be good talk down at the Dairy Queen this weekend....but it won't mean a thing come seasons end.

Bottoms line is this. Fleming has gotten better. But Mason's falling off far exceeds Fleming improvement, compared to previous years.

P.S- if you read my last post I think it said Fleming beat Mason in the regular season...heck maybe I'm better at history than I thought.

And from the words of my good friend Paul Harvey,....."now you know the rest of the story".

And yes. Good luck to BOTH teams this season.

I will add that Fleming has played 2 games and a scrimmage against teams that were supposed to have solid lines. Nicholas County had a huge line that is supposed to be one of the best around. According to the Ledger Independent, the lines was the strong point of this Mason County team. So, for Fleming County to have 3 new starters on their line, I think they have held up pretty well.

Also, the defense has only given up 1 score in the 3 games (when they gave Nicholas County the ball on the 4 yard line).

If they can continue to improve, I think Fleming County should have a good year.
