Yesterday was a tough game for her. Lex Cath put their big girl, Lauren Conrad on her and the two had a good battle down low for position. Mitchell lacks a bit of mobility in my opinion to be really dominant but she does alright. Still, yesterday was tough for her, especially w/ Novosel sagging on her assignment some to give defensive help.

This was a big win for Lex Cath tonight. Barring a huge upset by Lafayette, it should be Lex Cath and Dunbar in the district final. However, Lex Cath may rest a few of their players for the final since two starters were pretty banged up for this one and while a good Region seed isn't a bad thing, getting players healthy might be even more important if the Lady Knights want to win this region. JJ, did the radio give any stats for LCA? I was interested to hear Martin and Clifton's point totals. Both girls really tried to put LCA on their backs and pull this one out but Martin picked up her fifth foul and Clifton didn't get much room for a shot the rest of the way after that.

Heck of a game by lex cath's girls. Played tough and took it at LCA all night. LCA will be tough next year. Good season Lady Eagles.

Novosel's biggest flaw? Not very consistent from three point range. I personally think Novosel has had a tough time this season with Lex Cath's team because she is called to do so much for the team that she doesn't necessarily put up the gaudy stats all the time. I have seen few girls in the state OF THE TEAMS I'VE SEEN who can drive to the hole and score or draw the foul as well as her. She also has a big frame that allows her to post up well despite only being 5'11''. Plays good D, can handle the ball well, rebounds, and can pass. However I'd agree with some on here that Reid from everything I've heard is just as good if not better. I don't think the state can go wrong with either girl getting named Miss Basketball.

Good win for LCA, this has been a tough season overall for Lafayette and despite a poor record they played hard against some of the state's best competition.

Ha, I was being a little bitter yesterday. I started a thread similar to this about two weeks ago when this game became official after LCA's 2nd loss to Dunbar and I got blasted by a few people because of all the controversy that surrounds the two schools. You are very right, Dunbar is a very good team here in the 11th and no matter which of the top 3 in the 11th that you get to see, it'll be some good ball. As for this game, I'm a little worried right now for Lex Cath. I'll just leave it at Novosel is going to have to carry the load tomorrow and earn her Mrs. Basketball in this game. Go Lady Knights!!!

No point starting this thread, you'll probably only get a lot of people from other parts of the state saying how glad they are that one of these teams will be done playing for the year after this one. As for my opinion, yup, this will be a good game and fun to watch. Lex Cath has two senior leaders who don't want to end their careers on a low note while LCA has a solid group of juniors that want to prove they can defend their title. Game is at Henry Clay. Anyone who wants to see some good girl's basketball should go.

Add Lex Cath to the 11th but otherwise, looks alright so far.

Blowouts against Lex Cath twice would suggest they aren't good enough to claim top tier status yet.

How scary is it to think that whoever losses the 42 district aka Scott Co./ Bryan Station district will be your first round region game?? Also, tough loss for Central it sounds like but they just seem to always be sticking in there with the rest of the 11th region teams no matter what seems to come their way.

I'd say its tough to really say with much certainty who is best right now among the big four. Lex Cath has wins against Scott Co. and Mason Co. and a loss to Mason. However, Lex Cath was close in all three games and could just have easily lost their two wins or won their one loss. Bryan Station has played Scott Co. and Mason Co. twice and is 1-1 against both with some great wins and some ugly losses. Scott Co. has played all three of the other teams and is 2-2 with nice wins over Mason and Station, but an ugly loss to Station and a close loss on senior night at home to Lex Cath. Mason Co. is 2-3 against these teams. Overall in breaking down the games and matchups, no one team has really seperated themself from the others. So I'd agree its tough to really break down these four. Considering the early hype Mason Co. might be playing the most down right now of the four, but it isn't like Lex Cath blew out Mason or Scott and frankly I think with Station's defense and quickness they would be a little outmatched right now. Scott Co. has the great height and Portwood can score from outside but they haven't always shown four quarters of great ball against the other three. Finally, Station seems streaky to me as well. They always have quickness and speed but their consistency from game to game isn't necessarily always there. Whichever of these four teams can put together a string of good games will win the State I believe. Of course, Mason should have the easiest road so far with only one of the 11th region teams to potentially have to play.

Got assist numbers at least for Mack?? One of the big things I've heard from most people who have seen him play is that as a scorer he is good but his overall game is impressive because he can get his teammates scoring opportunities just as easily as he can score himself.

Im just trying to see what you are saying here, are you claiming Lex Cath during the early to mid 90's was bad for the All "A" or didn't belong in it? Because in all honesty, at least in the early part of the 90's Lex Cath was just beginning to be good after having been only mediocre for a couple decades. Size wise Lex Cath had hit class sizes of I think only 60 students or so during the mid to late 80's and really didn't see large growth until the mid to late 90's. Lex Cath was once the small school that could only compete for state titles using this tournament. They did have a few dominant years but were gone by the late '90s from the All 'A'.

Didn't Lex Cath beat Butler earlier this year in a holiday tournament out of state? Otherwise, I don't know enough about all regions to claim great rankings or not. The top teams are probably close to what the top 10 should be however Im sure there are some teams that probably belong ahead of or behind someone else. Dunbar for now is still the best.

I sometimes wish all fans were put in a bubble so that no one could hear them. I'm rarely very boisterous or loud when it comes to games mainly because unless I think a foul is blatantly obvious and missed then I don't think there is much reason to continually keep yelling at someone. Fact is, you aren't changing someone's mind about a call or no-call and unless the thing you are yelling about it blatantly obvious and occurring quite frequently such as a player camping in the lane with no intention of leaving then the ref probably won't be inclined to make calls later. I may criticize reffing but the fact is that having been a soccer ref when I was 13 for under 8 soccer I know how horrible fans can be. You haven't experienced horrible until you ref soccer for a bunch of kids and have to listen to every know it all parent who thinks their child is the next big thing tell you that every call you make or don't make is wrong. I find that there are two types of loud fans when it comes to yelling at refs. Ones that know nothing about what they are yelling about but having overheard someone else say it near them feel it is their duty to then simply inform everyone of that opinion. Or there is the fan who simply feels that the refs are against their team and will not call anything for their team or against the other team. Any other loud fans might be obnoxious but are typically just that way because they are cheering for their team.

Any stats or highlights from the game?? Having seen both these teams play this year I am more surprised that it was Montgomery with a high scoring blow out then I am that they won. Montgomery Co. struck me as a tough, hard nosed, defense oriented team with solid players who are all capable of scoring. However, I didn't think of them as great great shooters. LCA I thought of as a team with suspect defense at times and questionable inside play if their big girl isn't having a good game. However, offensively they can really run away from you when the shot is on. This score however seems to contradict that idea some and frankly im impressed by Montgomery Co. some.

Judging by the radio announcers for Scott Co. it sounded like equally bad officiating. Until the end, then I think bias won out for the announcers but even then it didn't sound pretty.

31-13 Lex Cath in the third quarter. I'd say that is a pretty good quarter for one team. Course I think Scott Co. won the 2nd Quarter 24-7 or so. Like I said earlier, a game of runs.
